What would YOU carry into battle?

Carry into battle? Don't be daft. You close the hatch and say over the radio, "Driver advance." The SMG is already in the tank. Mind you if somebody said I could take only what I own. It'd be my M-1 Carbine and my BHP.

Daisy Red Ryder 200-shot Carbine Action Range Model Air Rifle--with a compass in the stock!

Atomic Annie. Technically, it's rifled and made for battle. I bet I could pull the trigger myself. Just make sure you DUCK!

Actually, for singular combat I'd prefer something like a Blaser 93 in 338 Laupa. I want to be able to reach out and touch someone and do it while concealing myslef. Attach a good 20x scope and a suppressor. Maybe a good tripod as well. I'd be screwed in a firefight, however.

In a Jungle firefight, give me a Sig 55x series gun, the carbine model. Perhaps a Belt-fed MG like the Minimi.

In house-to-house combat, I'd have to go for the G36C. Light, durable, and maneuverable.

Hedgerows, give me an FAL or G3 any day of the week.

In the Desert, I'd prefer something like the AK-47 and AIR SUPPORT.

Dance with who brung ya'

I guess I'd have to go with what's in the gun closet.
That's a Mosin Nagant 91/30, an SKS, and an M1 Garand.
The 91/30 has good range, mine is very accurate, but it's kinda slow.
The SKS is light, fires rounds with good hitting power, and it's easy to carry a bunch of them. It's also rugged and reliable.
But what if I needed to shoot at somebody hiding behind something fairly stout? Then I might be glad I was carrying the Garand, with its penetrating power. I can reload it faster than I can the SKS. But I'd want a LOT more enbloc clips than I have right now, and some bandeliers.

If I had to grab what was in currently in the safe: M16A2 with the M4 upper & ACOG

If I had to grab what I expect to have in my safe inside of a year: said M16A2 but with an HKM4 upper. 6.8 SPC ammo.

If I could grab anything I wanted: SIG551.

Oh and lets not forget an integral grenade launcher with any of the above.

While the 6.8SPC sounds pretty good, I continue to think 5.56 hollowpoint ammo (Hornady TAP) is pretty damn effective.

I'd rather have the ability to carry more ammo, full auto suppressive fire and a grenade launcher rather than .308.

Krupt Drive yards Victory class star destroyer.

Populated with as many attractive, inteligent females as feasible.

That way I can take the conflict with me and be nagged to death at my leasure.

What he's getting at is that military requirements and individual requirements are two different things. IOW, things soldiers do and things "survivalists" do don't have all that much overlap.

I'm sure you mean a Kuat Drive Yard's VSD.

Although for myself I would take a KDY Imperal Star Destroyer II (ISD2). 1.6KM long (VSD=0.9km), 20 AT-AT walkers, 30 AT-ST's, 9,700 ground troups, 72 TIE fighters, 15 Storm trouper assault transports, 5 Assault Gunboats, and Skipray blastboats, and gamma class shuttles plus the added benefit of Ubrikkian HAVr A9 floating fortresses.

Not to mention 60 turbolasers and 60 ion cannons for planitary and deep space bombardment.

Although the ISD2 clearly outclasses the old VSD in most aspects, I will give one thing to you.. The VSD can operate in an atmosphere.. Much more impressive to see one floating over NYC, rather than using binocs or a telescope to see an ISD2 in low orbit.

mmmm... SOMEBODY has an illustrated copy of the Star Wars 'Essential guide to vehicles and vessels' and isnt afraid to use it! :neener:

Because of my bum leg I'd take the lightest rifle I could carry that still had firepower. That would be one of the AR variations.

CQB: M1A1 Thompson
Urban/woodland: either M14 or FAL
Desert: Bolt rifle in .300 win mag.
sidearm: 1911A1

Your right ShaiVong. I've been out of the SW bit for several years now.

I think you left out the deployable stormtrooper bases on the ISD/ISD2's.

Point of the VSD? Smaller, older technology so it'd be easier to maintain. The atmospheric capabilities were a secondary advantage.

And as with everything else in this world, all things can be used effectively with the right tactics and planning.. As GA Thrawn prooved with the VSD.

A standard issue Federation phaser rifle, and phaser II backup... : )

Seriously though, if I was going into battle it would have to be a least .30 caliber, and more than likely an M1A...

I concur....

YUP!!

There certainly is nothing like an Imp Star Duece

My preferance would be an SVD, as long as its not CQB
