I guess I am a gun-slut - fickle as the wind. Eight years ago, my 625MG in .45 Colt was my favorite. So much so, I added a second one to my collection. Sadly, without my basement factory - and cache of .45 Colts - they would be expensive to keep fed - and hard to find said ammo, too, once my cache was expended. I then decided that the .45 ACP and .357M/.38 were better choices, ammo availability wise - and the .22LR 617 was even more frugal - and fun - to shoot. These choices all pre-supposed my continued ownership of a pocketable 642. What if my 'favorite' would be my 'only'?
Last April began with me dropping a kilobuck, inc s/t, on a just re-released 1999 PC627 UDR, a 2 5/8" 8X .357M. Other than a poorly fitted grip, which was too small for my hands, it was an instant hit. It has been a common range bag occupant - even displacing my 627 Pro - which had displaced my original 627, a 5" JM PC627 V-Comp, holder of the best DA trigger S&W I have ever felt. Here is that UDR - with some moonclipped .38 S&W Special +P 158gr LSWCHP's, my defensive round for .38's & .357M's.
I funded yesterday's new purchase with the sale of my older 5" PC627. Said purchase was another 2 5/8" PC627 V-Comp - my second vote for that gun as my favorite revolver. I have one to keep loaded for a house gun; another, a range gun. Periodically, they will change roles. I could belt holster carry one as personal protection. They lay waist to the SPC plates with ease - and I never miss. As a snubby, they point beautifully - and have enough sight radii for my needs. No, Bambi and Thumper at 75 yd have nothing to fear - but a close in hog or small bear would likely be dispatched with .357M's. I believe I have found my favorite revolver!
