Ugh, another Zombie post. What is with you guys.

Zombies are serious business. :)

Honestly, the topic makes some of us laugh and we enjoy it. I was so inspired by zombie threads on the internet that I've actually written a novel on the subject, and it will be published in a couple of months.

Nobody forces you to read topics you don't like.

First rule to zombie killing / hunting dont make to much noise they track noise--hence the supressed part

I suggested
.22lr pistol, semi-auto
.22lr scoped rifle
AR 15 style rifle (large calibers are not condusive to zombie hunting why you ask?
large caliber hand gun (incase you get bit its best if you just take yourself out)

Large caliber rifles are out, why?
1. to much bang (remember zombie flesh is slowly deteriorating and it wont take much to penetrate it.)(over penetration can be very bad, you could make more noise using a supressed .308 and some over penetration than a supressed .22lr.)

2. splatter damage (you dont want zombie blood on you)

3. less is more (your gonna have to burn the bodies you dont want to pieces spread everywhere.)

4. you can carry more ammo (in a class 3 -5 you are gonna encounter a lot of zombies especially in a urban / suburban area and your gonna need a lot of ammo) if you dont have a large caliber

.22LR will allow you to carry enough ammo and a lot of loaded magazines, and its especially easy to find, 500 rounds per box say perhaps 5 boxes should allow you to hunt zombies pretty efficiently, remember its not necessary to blow their heads off especially if you are using varmint rounds you ought to be able to get some decent penetration in a head shot.

Your weapon type is also determined by what you are going to be doing are you going HUNTIN or is this primarily so you can get the hell out of dodge!

Actually, I think that the occasional zombie thread is one of the very few (moderator wink-nod) okay off-topic subjects on THR.

As it should be. :)

I am not against the zombie posts, is that they pop up quite often and tend to be redundent. I guess I just don't fully understand the rationale behind them. But if people enjoy them so be it. :D

My vote is for a .22 If you can get one of the belt fed .22 uppers for the AR, that would be ideal.

if not.. one of those drum fed american 180 semi autos would be nice.

and last but more realistic is the ruger 10/22

with .22 you can cary enough ammo in a rucksak to decimate the zombified population of a small town, try that with a 308, go ahead, I dare ya.

although if you're using a tactical wheelbarrow, that can change things. ;)

you can always have a remmy 1100 with buckshot for when you need to knock them back physically

I'd take a Camp-45 w/ a red-dot and a Mossberg 590A1. With a 1911 as a backup.

Only need two types of ammo, .45 JHP and 12GA 00. Well maybe a few slugs too. And some rock-salt loads, just to watch 'em fizz a little.

Oh Wait...I already have those. Looks like I'm set.

Zombies are redundent, they want brains and flesh thats it. It is necessary to forumlate plans and gather weaponry to combat a class 3+ outbreak.

Out of those listed, I picked the PTR-91. Reliability is a wash between them all, and combat accuracy is fairly close in all of them. But used G3 magazines are just so darned cheap, it's easy to have a few dozen laying about.

My 30-30 Marlin 336 worked just fine last year. I ran out of the house to the car with nothing but a fully loaded 336 and a box of 150 grain core-lokt in my jacket pocket.

Head shots were easy at typical zombie range and the relatively mild recoil allowed for rapid shots on multiple targets. Although there was one scrawny teenage zombie with an iPod left blocking left our way, I didn't even bother to reload, I just buttstroked her four or five times and that was it for her.

Those Marlins are built like a tank!

AK47. When you absolutely, positively, gotta kill every friggin' undead brainsucker in view. Punch and reliability at reasonable range.

For mass zombie the drum is preferable to the 30 round mag.

Of course a flame thower in good working order would be keen too. :neener:

NO way I'm going to waste energy using anthing over a 5.56 on a freaking Zombie! Heavy barrel AR is the perfect weapon for engaging the undead out to 400+yds.

I just put together a Bushmaster Varminter with a Super Sniper 10x42mm and a Harris Bipod. Cannot imagine a better 'Zombie killer' than this package.

if you need a centerfire rifle to feel cool (as I often do) i'd have to say a good ole fashion 5.56 AR carbine. Those bullets are cheaper and there are more of them when you need them if you are going to be going up against hordes of zombies. of course a side arm is neccesary and as much as I love .45, the 9mm is probably better since you can hold so many darn rounds. Of course a .22 would work best of all in this scenario. seperate firearms or even just conversion kits, 22lr is zombie killing machine. all you zombie fans and fellow paranoids out there should read World War Z, awsome book on the zombie apocolypse:p

One of my dream guns is not on this list. I am appalled.

I would use a PPSh-41 with a few 72 round drums. :)

I'm a little disheartened by the response, I must say, as this is my current list of anti-zombie armaments...:banghead:

Rem700 custom in 300 Win Mag w/ Gem Tech can. Very heavy strategic rifle.
Launches a 240grn BTHP at 2950fps
Rem700PSS in .308 w/ a Tac ord can
AR-15 parts gun w/ an American(sp) suppressor and a BetaC mag
Glock 21(.45) w/ a B&T can
Glock 19 no mods
Ruger 10/22 w/ scope
Walther P22 ( no can on it...yet)
Are the majority of posts here telling me NOT to purchase a new gun? :what:

If not a semi in .308, what else do I need to flesh out my anti-zombie arsenal?

Dan

Before some of you ask when and where I was killing Zombies, I can't tell you that... Its double super secret and I was sworn to secrecy. Just take my word that I was there...

Raccoon City?

Okami:
There's no such thing as zombies!
Hmmmph!

Shows what you know.

You don't get out much, do you?

At any rate, my KelTec SU-16c is ideal for dealing with the undead buggers. Light, handy, accurate, reliable, takes M16/AR15 mags. It's all you need.

You'll be the envy of your neighbors next time the zombies come trudging down your street.

:)

i choose m1a because i love them ,and i persoonally think that they are the best semi-auto rifles ever made, but that's just me.

but i think that an ar varient would be better, for what you want. i love the ar platform, and you can do so much with them. i would go with a 5.56/.223 model though because ammo is cheaper, which will aid in the cost effectiveness of your practice and range time, so when the time comes you can get head shots on the zombies!:)
