Which would you grab?

I'll put a little different spin on it...if we're talking about a shooting, I'd use the Sig because I don't want my Colt impounded as evidence forever by my local PD.

I've never liked this argument. In the grand scheme of grand juries, lawyers, lost time from work, etc. The couple hundred bucks you might save are a pittance.

Use the gun you shoot and operated the best. Personally I don't care if it was a 10k custom gun. If I did my part and it saved my family. It was worth every cent...

I won't argue and will concede your point that you should use the best tool for the job, and that a life isn't worth the extra cost, regardless what it is. That's a true statement, if the more expensive gun is indeed better for the user. OP never made that claim.

FWIW, the Sig is a more expensive gun, MK 25, 226 Navy w/ 3 Mecgar mags, plus the 3 OEM mags.

I picked up the Colt, a series 80 enhanced, 20+ years ago. I don't plan on losing either of them, as I do not expect to be home invaded. I'm prepared for it, but not expecting it.

The Sig. Not only do I trust it more than a 1911 (and I do love 1911's, don't get me wrong), but home invasions are multi-target scenarios and the extra ammo could well come in handy.

At 20 feet it wouldn't make any difference. If you shoot enough, any encounter at close range shouldn't warrant the use of lights, lasers, or sights. Even in dim light.

If you shoot better with the Sig, by all means the Sig. Confidence is the placement not the caliber. One 9 in the head is worth two 45s in the torso or extremities. Practice shooting with both hands same time . We should all have those choices to be confused about.

If in the living room, you are correct. Once in bed, dark house + young kids = need for light IMO. The laser will only be useful if unable to get behind the gun due to odd angle/cover/injury.

My chest as I'd have a heart attack from being scared the crap out of.. then I'd grab the colt with my right hand as my left arm would be numb from tingling (heart attack again).. :D

The SIG because the 300 lume light allows proper target ID in questionable or nonexistent light and is also a weapon in itself. Hit with intense light most folks reaction is to flinch away, especially if their eyes are dark adapted. The 21 rounds of the well proven Gold Dots and the targeting laser are just extra bonuses.

I had the opportunity to answer the question what I would grab. I grabbed my Glock 19. Unfortunately I didnt grab shoes or shorts.
