Who has a C&R License? And has BATF ever checked your book?

I’m coming up on three years and have had no audits, but I strive to keep my bound book as accurate as possible. Time for renewal!

What can a person do with a C&R licence?

Go broke, mainly. :D

Short answer is that you can buy guns classified as Curios or Relics and have them shipped straight to you. You can buy C&R handguns across state lines. You get discounts at places like Brownells and Midway.

Need I go on?

Over 2 years with my C&R and no contact of any kind by the ATF.
Over 3 dozen transactions. My wife is starting to wish someone will intercede in my hobby.

Just reached an even dozen goodies bought with mine. Number twelve is a sweet unissued M39 from Empire. I know I'm way behind the curve compared to a lot of you guys... what can I say?

Self restraint is tough with a C&R, but I'm doing OK. Love the license :D

my 03 is about the same as the balance in my checking account. =(
there is always some new rifle that you know is going to be worth a fortune next year and is seeped in history and if you dont buy it now they may ban next year.

then next year comes, the gun isn't banned, and you like it too much to sell.

They come by my house about twice a year and make copies of the bound book, inspect my firearms, take DNA, just the usual.

Kidding! :)

I am a casual acquaintance of a fellow who works as an administrative inspector for ATF. The inspector guys are apparently in a different grade/class/whatever from the agents who work fires, gun-crimes, bombs, etc. They check gun-dealer licenses and paperwork and such. He is a very nice fellow, and I wouldn't be (too) upset if he wanted to look at my book. I've also met a few of the local field agents, and they seem to be pretty good guys.

I haven't ever asked him about inspecting C&R folks, though he got me my application form. I'll ask him next time I see him about how often they do such checks (if ever).

In nearly three years, none. I would advise to keep accurate records in your bound book anyways. Just in case and the book will at the very least let you remember all you've bought or had to sell. Cheap C&R's can multiply like rabbits and so it becomes hard to keep up with them all.:D Nothing like cleaning out a closet on a Saturday afternoon and finding a gun I'd forgotten all about!:)

C&r Check

If you already own several C&Rs and later decide to get your license, do you enter them in the book? Do they have to be entered or is there documentation (provided by you or someone else) as to when acquired and entry is not required?
