why not a bullpup?

The fear because a rifle is going to blow up in your face because it's a bullpup, should not be that much of a hindrance...

exactly your ladder or other household item could maim or kill you at the same percentage.

Not a bullpup owner today.. tomorrow might be different. ;)

My only bullpup is my High-Point/Hi-Tower 9mm. Once the SBR paperwork is done on my CZ Scorpion EVO I am thinking of the bullpup kit for it. I would like to see a bullpup kit for the AR, but I seriously doubt it will ever happen.

The problem with making an AR a bullpup is that the recoil spring and buffer tube are behind the bolt, preventing you from moving the action closer to your shoulder. If you made a custom upper with a forward-mounted recoil spring to get around that, and a custom lower to put the handgrip further forward to convert it to a bullpup, you would have made a completely new rifle.

piston AR’s have proven to work so it’s not that much of a feat

OP: well, because you asked…upon Further reflection,

to be frank, the weird, alien appearance.

And the Tavor— the only bullpup I tried —had such a terribly heavy trigger (by far worst I’ve tried) that the stock German Sig P6 DA pull seems light and smooth by comparison and my PTR-91’s oem trigger seems like a sniper gun.

And also “just because” Sgt. Saunders, Kirby, Cage and Little John carried nothing remotely similar to a bullpup, neither did the “Rat Patrol” soldiers (based on the early SAS).

The triggers can really never be as good as a conventional layout and mag changes are awkward.

Otherwise, there's a lot to like, but unfortunately many of them are hideous.

I have an RFB-18 and an RDB-17, like them both. Keltec did a good job of dealing with the case ejection issue for right or left handed shooters while also enclosing the ejection port, something that makes the at-ear sound levels of most suppressed bullpups quite high.

I've been told that the expensive $355 Geissele trigger pack for the Tavor X95 is REALLY good and puts it into league with a decent AR trigger feel
but that could be hyperbole or could be true, I've only heard second hand. https://geissele.com/super-sabra-trigger-pack-iwi-tavor-x95-rifles.html

For me, $1,600-$1,800 for a Tavor and another $355 for a trigger puts it at the "expensive novelty" gun price range when you can buy or build a GREAT AR for quite a bit less.

I love my bullpups. Yes the triggers suck and mag changes can be a little clumsy til ya get used to it but I love that compact feeling unlike some who are scared they'll singe their facial hair. Good luck with that, hasn't happened to me, ever........

I shot a steyr AUG quite a bit. Only thing I didnt like was the noise. The muzzle is only 18" from your ears and the ejection port right under your ear.

One disadvantage of the bullpup is pretty negated in a home defense situation - reloading. I think most HD situations would probably be handled well with 30 rounds, I guess, so the short length would be more advantageous.
But, too expensive for me, for certain.
