A few months ago I purchased a GP100 6" half lug and I love it!
I hit a sheep sized silhouette at 100 yards without support the other day.
I never thought that was possible with a handgun! (but I'm a relative newbie)

Anywho, I plan on getting a trigger job and Hogue grips.

What modifications have you made to your GP100 that you think
have really improved its performance?

My 4" GP100 came with Hogue's already installed. Otherwise, havent done a single thing!!

Trigger job with lighter springs.

Painted front sight white.

Hogue monogrip.

Shoot the heck out of it.

Big dot front sight, dehorn, reblue, carry, shoot, shoot, shoot. (sell) buy another, do the same, shoot, shoot, shoot.

The one accessory you can buy with any gun that will improve your performance more than anything is AMMO. Shoot, shoot, shoot. When you can't shoot dryfire, dryfire, dryfire. Use snap caps. And when it comes to your shooting be bitchy, bitchy, bitchy at yourself.

I don't have a GP100, but something similar (S&W 686), and it seems the mods you're asking about are pretty general, so...

I installed smooth wood (Miculek) grips, had an action job done, fiber optic front sight, Millet rear sight, chamfered the cylinder, smoothened and radiused the trigger, and converted to DAO.

I rarely shoot single action, so I never miss it after being converted to DAO. In fact, it definitely seems I got an accuracy bonus, since the hammer doesn't slam into the frame as hard and jar the sight picture.

I suspected that smoothing and radiusing of the trigger would be an improvement, but it turned out to be one of the improvements I like best.

The action job was a nice change, too, of course.

As others indicated, though, it's up to the shooter to bring out all the goodness!

I have a brand spanking new Hogue Monogrip that is for your gun. I misordered it when I was getting a grip for my SP101. PM me if you want it. I'll send it to you - no charge.

I gave my dad my first GP100 and am about to get another. All the new ones come with the Hogue grips so if you get the hogue grips let me know if you want to get rid of the originals. That way dad and I have matching gun. :)

I ordered and installed a set of Ruger factory Part# GBVR sights on one of mine,(half lug) and a set of the Hi-Vis sights on another (full lug). The one with the Hi-Vis sights also has Hogue grips.

Both of them have shot excellent since I got them however the one with the half lug seems to have a preference for mid to heavy bullets where as the full lug only likes bullets up to 140grs. My wife and daughter who have shot them the most have no issues with recoil or trigger pull on either of them. I personally like the gold bead front with the V notch rear for accuracy. It doesn't cover up as much of the target and you can get down to the nat's rear on game.

If you decide to order a set they are listed under the Redhawk parts, however they will work just fine. I have several sets and all have easily installed in both GP's. I switch them out from time to time just to keep handy with the different aspects of different sights as well as using different ones for different conditions. When they come off they all go in one plastic box and get mixed with the others. I have never had an issue of more than a cylinder or two getting back on zero with them.
