Shocker——

Sorry, folks, but I call BS on this entire thread. In my five decades of shooting, I've never. Not once. Not ever. Seen a woman at a range who wasn't basically dragged there by a significant other. Not a single time.
My wife is one. Busting clay pigeons on a berm turned her into a ammo burning fiend.
Then she found the steel challenge range. I ended up letting her burn most of my ammo too.
Honestly all the women I've seen at the range are either excited to be there or are fixing to make the rest of the day terrible for their SO.

10 years ago this month my wife found a 1 room log cabin on 23 acres and said I found our dream house. Since we've been out here she has gotten her own shotgun, a Henry .22 lever action rifle a .243 rifle and last year a crossbow. She taken small game, 6 bucks and last season a deer wiith her crossbow. I have truly been blessed.
Sound Nice! My wife like to work ALOT! 12-16 hour days. I told her, take it easy and enjoy life. She won’t hear me

My wife owns 2 Springfield XD Mod2, one 9mm, one 45acp and one S&W EZ380. She purchased them herself and is more than capable of their use.

Last trip to the range was her urging.

Maybe you just associate with the wrong women.

Agreed. My wife belongs to the local Well Armed Women club, and is not "dragged" to the range by me. She went solo to Illinois a couple of months ago to get her CC license, since they don't recognize our states permit. I do shoot a lot more than her, but she is more than a willing participant.

I realize you can't disclose your location as the FBI is still on your tail, but I do kinda wonder where you're living. In my five decades of shooting, while it's not seemed to be a regular occurrence, I've witnessed women, either by themselves or with female friends, at almost every commercial range and gun club I've patronized. Maybe the women up here in the PNW are somewhat more liberated

Are you perhaps living in a Middle-Eastern country, like say, Saudi Arabia? (I never saw any women shooting guns there, either, with or without men present)

Didn’t D. B Cooper jump out of a plane somewhere in Oregon? all that for $250,000 bucks! they didn’t need much in those days

BD probably bought APPLE stocks and us now a billionaire

No complaints about ammo usage, shooting trips, reloading, or nerdy one-sided conversations about new loads and test results. The only nagging of any sort I get is about buying several new holsters a year.

She would probably care less about all the new holsters if she realized they were mostly for new guns. ;)

Chasing a 2 & 4 yo around a gun range is not my idea of a good time. I know there are Super dad’s out there, but I’m not that guy. They are not shooting till after puberty
My Dad started my daughter at the range when she was 7. If not for the local "culture" I would have allowed her to shoot unsupervised.

My wife told me she’d cook anything I killed. Then later on when it came to it, she reneged. She has refused to cook not just game, but also anything we raised. She doesn’t want to live in a cabin. She wants “convenience” in her own words. My dreams of Alaska, are quashed. Im thinking of a cabin on the back half of the farm now. Can still hear the road though from the fence line so not sure it’s worth the effort.

I don’t know how you boys get these good women. These days… wake me up when before the nightmare continues

I was at my favorite local indoor range yesterday ( Thursday) which is Ladies Discount Day.
Out of a half dozen shooters, I was the only guy there. Other than an instructor training a new shooter. Every one else appeared to be an experienced shooter.

As for ammo costs, my wife spends money on what she likes, and while she doesn’t care for guns, she understands I enjoy it, and never complains.

Wife is happy I have the shooting, reloading hobbies. She has her own pisto,l .32 H & R Single Six, but hasn't fired it in 5 years. The linen closet is now the reloading supply cabinet, no complaints. All my pistols are also on her permit. We also have CCW in FL.

My wife asked me when things got in short supply, do we have enough? Maybe we should get more? I assured her my supply of components was pretty stout.

My wife of 40 years doesn’t get into the weeds of my gun hobby. If she knew the retail value of the current bench stock and overall inventory we probably wouldn’t be married.

She will go shoot now and then but likes to make it a family affair. Adult kids and significant others. That means an abandoned quarry. Couple of folding tables. Plate steel, paper targets, bowling pins etc and I provide the guns and ammo and act as range officer. Maybe twice a year.

My Wife used to shoot with me some and we Deer hunted together. We even made several trips to Canada Deer hunting. But She lost interest somewhere along the way. But She's never said anything about my hunting and shooting expenses. The only thing She has ever said about anything that I have bought was something about my senses when I came home and told Her that I had bought an Airplane!

Mine is kinda wishy-washy. She was skeptical in the early days...afraid of having guns in the house and so on. She got over that after we sat down and went over a lot of gun safety. "If you can't be bothered to be informed, you're not entitled to an opinion on the matter".

Now she shoots with me on occasion, is more supportive of me and our son shooting, and doesn't mind my buying more crap...as long as it doesn't interfere with financing bills, vacation, and some of her ideas.

At the state owned range, I do see a lot of younger females shooting with their guys. I like that mine shoots some, but I'm glad she doesn't want to go every time. Just like I'm glad she doesn't like everything I like, because I got tired of picking the most miserable days to do things just so she'd wanna stay home sometimes.

Don't make that mistake. 2-4 is a little young. But after puberty is a little late.
I started on a bb gun at 5. As I grew my firearm size grew. Early years are formative years. My 4 year old is learning how to properly hold a toy gun. He will move up the chain at his own pace.

I agree.
