Remember when............................................................Well I think for my very first batch they turned out pretty dang good! I’m very happy. I know what I need to do to improve the process. Better containers, cleaner prep, warming the lead prior to coating etc. couple boo boos in there but I’m VERY pleased and it was fun!View attachment 1205968View attachment 1205969View attachment 1205971View attachment 1205970
It's the circle of life!Sometimes production takes destruction.....................................
BTW, 50 of those empty cases were my 'experimental' .380 loads. Well-satisfied with the results so I'll be building a bunch more of those. Didn't want to load a couple hundred and find out they weren't gonna work out. Now I have a green light. What did I do in the reloading room?
I deposited 150 empty cases that were full this morning. Got my work cut out for me the next few days.
Haha! Well I’ll go “all in” UP to a progressive and casting bulletsRemember when............................................................

Just buy the Dillon now and save yourself the upgrade fees.Haha! Well I’ll go “all in” UP to a progressive and casting bullets
Before my buddy past away he had 4 brand new 550’s to start an ammo buisness. There was 30K plus worth of goodies in his shop at least! Every die for every caliber you can think of…Just buy the Dillon now and save yourself the upgrade fees.
Just a coincidence, I hope?!!Before my buddy past away he had 4 brand new 550’s…
This string is beyond true. I have been using a Lee classic Turret for the last nine years. Recently I’ve been going back and forth on weather to get the Hornaday LNL AP or the Dillon 650 / 750. I’ve been really close to pulling the trigger on the Hornady but the Dillon is keeping at bay due to it being a better press. Both cost a pretty penny all in, especially for loading many different cartridges. I would have never thought that I would be contemplating spending +\~ $1-K on a press (all in)Just buy the Dillon now and save yourself the upgrade fees.

With that said I have seriously been thinking about getting into casting as well
WHERE DOES THIS STOP!?!?!?!?!?!

"All in"? There you go, kidding yourself again!...I would have never thought that I would be contemplating spending +\~ $1-K on a press

By the time you get all the bells and whistles for the Dillon you'll be at 3X that
It almost looks like the shoulder was crushed, and then pushed back out… Or is it in?…During my last batch yesterday I spotted this one during lube before going into the sizer. Dad must have been picking up behind a guy with a crazy bad chamber.... this one also bound for recycling View attachment 1206016
I don't think it ever stops! If you want a suggestion about casting, I highly suggest either finding a dependable source for scrap lead or decide where you are going to buy it at. RMR sells the scraps from their bullet cores and RotoMetals is a good source for new lead. I still have a source for used wheelweights but they are getting harder and harder to find. With that said I have seriously been thinking about getting into casting as well

I use rmr lead because it's already good to go for low pressure loadings like 45c 45acp and 38 and I'm happy with 1/3 of a bar of roto superhard added to a 20lb pot to make bhn 12 my mag mix.I don't think it ever stops! These all have a shoulder push back excessively "full length sized" if you will. I run a .003 bump on lever guns, which works just fine for me. My 94 has a loooong chamber so my shoulder is excessive to the Sammi drawing. I haven't measured, but I must be gaining the equivalent of a couple of grains more capasity. Like going from standard to Ackley. It almost looks like the shoulder was crushed, and then pushed back out… Or is it in?…
All the temperature testing I've seen is most extruded powder is more thermally stable than any ball powder including staball. I don't normally appreciate relativism but in this example it definitely applies. Nothing beats h4350 and honestly nothing is even close for temperature stability.... it just so happens its a favorite in that cartridge. I spend way more time in the varget burn rate so I'm not a fan Boi, it's just what test after test shows.Starting working up a new 6.5 CM load with StaBall and Hornady 140 gr HPBT. The one I worked up in the winter here with the same components started showing pressure (sticky and hard bolt) yesterday in 70° weather. I was a little surprised because my Hornady manual shows 38.1-43.7 gr and I was at 41.5 gr.
