What kinda 45 are you carrying (besides 1911)

Glock 36 (as I type this,) S&W CS45 & S&W 4553TSW. Like Hangingrock, I love my 4506-1 (more than my Springfield Loaded 1911) except I find it too big/heavy for my typical IWB carry.

    Ruger Speed Six

I'd be on that like a fat kid on donuts... even if it is .38.

    Your UNCONVENTIONAL door answerer gun

There are definitely parts of the U.S. that if you are stranded and don't ask for help, you may die. Exercise caution - don't lose your life but in the pursuit of that, don't lose your humanity. Anecdotal: A friend who grew up in Minnesota / Dakotas described that when he began some long...

good hi cap pistol under $400 cant spend more than that.

Gimmicky with jack-of-all-trades / master-of-none caliber/grip exchanges. Horrible trigger IMHO. I think many of the initial reliability problems that were experienced by so many have been rectified by Sig but the first two points still weigh in my personal opinion. I like Sig... a lot. My 266...

good hi cap pistol under $400 cant spend more than that.

Since "carry gun" is on the table, then my suggestions would include the Sig 2022 (NOT a P250,) or the 6906. $400 and you should be able to find a used gen2/3 Glock 19 if you look long enough. After my personal experience with a steel, 10mm Witness I can't recommend EAA in any way/shape/form...

    $300 for a 9mm

Don Davis (and others) has it right... The 5906 has got to be about the best for an amazing quality gun at only $300. I've got three 3rd Gen S&W .45s and the quality is phenomenal for the price. If you can muster the extra $50 or so, the 2022 is the best bet if you actually plan to carry it...

Hollow points for guns that don't like hollow points

I wish I could Federal 9BP (or 9BPLE) locally. Yeah, the Pow'R'Ball feeds as well as a FMJ on some older mil-surplus guns. Even though my '82 P6 seemed to feed a variety of JHP without issue, I still usually stoked it with PowRBall. A stated byproduct is that the polymer ball inhibits the JHP...

In the market for a good, inexpensive, used, all-steel 9mm

Can't go wrong with the 5906 for the price. I've got three 3rd Gen S&W .45s and love 'em. The 5906 should absorb 9mm recoil until the felt recoil is like a .22. ;)

If not an HK P7 then what?

I've not found heat as an appreciable issue when shooting although it does get warm. The heat limits range time no more than the range time may be limited by some other models due to their long, heavy DAO or heavy recoil in a small carry package. in short, I love my P7-PSP. It is quite...

Kel-tec customer service = top notch

Kel Tec - I've owned two... still have one. Kel Tec advice, having spent a bit of time of the two Kel Tel forums: 1) (Upside) Their customer service is AMAZING. If you have a problem, send it in with no questions asked. The smiths there go thru the guns well, performing feed ramp...

    Which Milsurp to start with?

Out of respect for the OP, should this be two different threads? OP - Enjoy your search! Milsurps are FUN! My first rifle as a teenager in the eighties was a 1916 7x57 Mauser. Still accurate as heck to this day, though the ammo has gotten a bit more expensive to find. I would pick something...

    Which Milsurp to start with?

How about the Ishapore 2a1 in plentiful 7.62 NATO? (The Chilean Mauser in .308 is listed on a popular site for $169. Add a battle pack of .308 for $70-80 and you're in.)

To those of you who have really expensive knives.

...is smaller now and very few safe-queens remain, I have a number of >$300 blades. The Chris Reeve Sebenza is the everyday carry for years now and is *not* babied but is worth every bit of price equivalent of 10-15 $25 WalMart-China-Specials. The Busse's I've used-and-abused that much better...

M1911 vs Glock: The Gunshop Showdown

Back to the OP, "Kid... I believe in using the right amount of force for each unique application and you can't properly pistol whip a punk with a plastic gun." ;) If that fails, refer them to the other thread posted today where the guy woke up to find his rottie had chewed apart all but the...

    Armslist, mixed feelings

Armslist... Last Wednesday I saw a posting in my State for a Sig 228 for $500. I emailed the link and he returned my email at nearly midnight. The sig included (5) magazines, a crappy CAA picatinny rail adapter (removed!) and the original box. It's SN dated around 1999. We met Thursday after...

    NAA Mini Revolvers Opinions?

I had one... I went to a gun show, had a little cash burning a hole in my pocket and found nothing else, so I bought one. A lil .22LR. Pros? Ultimate concealment; it drops in a pocket when nothing else will do. It was surprisingly accurate at contact distances of 5'-15'. I thought they appeared...
