Laugo alien.
A top of the line tanfoglio (currently imported by defiance I think)
A cz from cz custom
a korth revolver

Somehow I ended up with $5K to buy any pistol I want. Sounded simple until I started looking. The 1911's they made out of a meteorite? I got to see them. Just a tad out of my price range. Your choice?

5 grand for one gun? That's way into diminishing returns in price vs. value. Can I make good use of a $5K 1911, vs. a $1200 one, or the $400 Rock Island GI I actually have?

At this point, I'd probably improve the gun hoard, replacing a few low end items with better. Get some training, appropriate to my needs and physical condition. Improve the reloading setup. Ask discreetly around, and see if there's someone who has a legitimate need for a personal protection gun, but can't afford one.

It all depends what you are looking for. Are you looking for a collectible you will look at and never shoot or are you looking at a functional piece of art to enjoy at the range?

Why did you want a 400 dollar gun vs. a Hi-Point? Diminishing returns is 100% tied to your pocket book and nothing else in the world.

I think I would try to replace the Colt Combat Government series 70 that I bought brand new in 1983 for $317.00. I would want a NIB gun. I had to sell mine in ‘88.

I'd go for a custom , have Bowen do up a revolver for you. It'll be worth every penny and you won't worry about that pesky cash hanging around . I know this is the autoloader (bottom feeder) section so I'd say if it must be an auto, Sig 210 and a pile of magazines. Maybe one of them fk brno pistols (the cheap one) with some mags and replacement barrels , loading dies for 7.5fk.
I could spend that no problem , too much stuff to want.

Go over and see what Turnbull has listed for sale, might just fund a beauty and leave you enough for a weekend vacation .

I don’t know about custom, The is a member here that spend $3500 for a non functional 1911

How about a nice S&W Registered Magnum? If I were to spent $5K on a single handgun, that's what I'd look for. There's not a semiauto I can think of that I'd pay that much for.

Beyond that, $5K would net me several nice guns.

That RM would have to be refinished and/or pretty roughed up for you to be able to get it for $5,000.

Same with the PRS in the post above mine.

Manurhin MR 73 5.25 for $3600
You beat me to the punch. I second the Manurhin though you did not ask for a rifle recommendation I would recommend a Shiloh Sharps rifle or a C-sharps rifle they could also be rolling blocks. They are accurate as far as you can see.
