Seecamp did the conversions on the 1911s from the 70s into the mid 80s or so. This was at a time when there were no commercial da/sa 45acp guns made in the U.S. at all.
The guns could be carried c&l or hammer down on a live round for a da first shot. The trigger pull was rather heavy in da. The sa was pretty good. They functioned as 1911s do with the addition of the da trigger.
He stopped doing the conversions and licensed them out to others as more da/sa pistol appeared on the market including those in .45 acp. There is more information on them at the Seecamp website.
