I long while back I decided I needed a hobby and so I chose ammo collecting. I am getting pretty close to having a very well rounded pistol ammo display and I want to branch out into other categories of ammo collecting. I have decided that I want to have one round of each type of ammo, that has ever been shot at a president. I am having difficulty finding the actual name of the different rounds, usually I only find caliber.

So far I have found:
Garfield- .455 Webley
Kennedy- 6.5x52mm
Reagan- 22 LR
Ford- First attempt .45 ACP and I have not figured out what caliber the revolver was in the second attempt
Lincoln- the only mention I could find was a .44 cal deringer
Jackson- two flintlock pistol of unknown caliber
Truman- The two would be assassins had 9mm

I could not find any mention to the actual round name in the attempted assasinations of Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, or the caliber of the rifle that was shot at the White House in the attempt at Bill Clinton.

I think making a little display of these rounds will be pretty interesting and a cool conversational piece. So I would appreciate it if anyone can help me fill out the blanks.

Thanks,

caliber of the rifle that was shot at the White House in the attempt at Bill Clinton
Martin Duran used a 7.62x39 Norinco SKS Rifle

Also in 2001 Mr. Robert Pickett shot at the White House with a .38 Special and was in turn shot by the U.S. Secret Service. I'm not sure if you could truely call that one an assignation attempt as Mr. Bush II ("W") wasn't even in at the time and Mr. Pickett was really trying for "death by cop".

If memory serves a .32 cal was fired at Teddy Roosevelt.

I wouldn't really say the guy shooting the rifle at the White House was an "assasination" attempt. Don't think the President was even there?

In NYC and Chicago over the past 30 years or so, the most used caliber of assasination by the Mob is the .22LR.

Duran qualifies. In his deranged state he was sure that he'd seen Clinton and was sure he would be able to hit/kill the President. It may have been woefully inept but it most assuredly was an assassination attempt.

Really. This is interesting. You'll have to post some pics when you're ready.

I seem to recall the 2nd attempt on Ford was 38 cal revolver.

JFK was likely more than a single caliber. I'm just saying....

Wikipedia says he used an Ak-47 and fired 29 rounds.

Francisco Martin Duran (born September 8, 1968 in Albuquerque, New Mexico) is most known for his actions of 29 October 1994 when he fired 29 rounds from a rifle at the White House.

On October 29, dressed in a trench coat, Duran went up to the fence overlooking the north lawn of the White House and fired an AK-47 fully-automatic rifle at a group of men in dark business suits on the White House lawn.

Duran was probably motivated at least in part by the assault weapons ban of 1994. In August 1994, Duran had called a local congressional office to oppose the ban and threatened to "go to Washington and take someone out." He also bought the AK-47 on Sep. 13, 1994, the same day Clinton signed the bill into law.

In this particular case I can state with complete confidence that Wikipedia is WRONG.

It was a semi-automatic SKS rifle with a 30 round magazine and in all seriousness I know this because I was on the scene only a few seconds after the man was tackled.

(but don't take my word for it... from the official White House security review...)
On Saturday October 29, 1994, at approximately 2:55 p.m., Francisco Martin Duran stood on the south sidewalk of Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House. Suddenly, he pulled a Chinese-made SKS semiautomatic rifle from underneath the tan trench coat he was wearing, pointed the barrel of the rifle through the bars of the White House fence, and fired multiple rounds toward the White House. He then pulled the weapon back from the fence and ran down the sidewalk from west to east, toward 15th Street, continuing to fire through the fence as he ran.

Archduke Franz Ferdinand- bomb and FN Model 1910. some dispute as to .32 vs .380 in the hands of Gavrilo Princip

I'd venture a lot of politicos worldwide have caught a 7.62x39 or 7.62x54R, possibly a Makarov or Tokarev round or two thrown in for good measure.

Reagan was a .22lr wasn't it?

Sadat was 7.62x39 IIRC.
And then there's the Ron Brown .45 controversy...
And Vince Foster...a revolver was used so I am guessing a .38 also.
