BBQ Guns

No BBQ here; this job knows no holidays. But, when I do grill outside on other days, it's usually my Ruger Police Service Six stuck in one of those "universal" open-top, open-bottom holsters worn between my belt and pants.

The first one is nearly a barbeque gun, but even though it's a custom high power it's not quite enough flash.

The CZ is what I usually use for a barbeque gun, but the Browning 1971 sometimes travels in a shoulder holster.

OK, I'll play, what are the prerequisites for a BBQ gun? And why do you need a different gun to cook food with, other than your every day carry gun? I'm at a total loss trying to figure out the reason for this.

And if the reason is to show off your fancy gun, why is it called a BBQ gun?

Basically, what show-offy gun/holster do you wear to your neighborhood/family/gun family event/bbq. Excessive ivory/engraving is preferred.

While my submission was a joke, tossing my nothing fancy rig on my actual BBQ pit..

Here is an explanation

Pretty subdued for a proper BBQ gun, but this is it.
Mod. 58 with Melonite finish and Sambar Stags.
Rig is an El Paso that steps it up a notch.

629 (pre lock) With Grashorn stags. Name, badge number and department engraved in an El Paso rig. Thats about as fancy as I get.

I'm so jealous of all of you. Not only do I not own a suitable firearm but If I wore a gun to a BBQ in this state I would be going to jail in a hurry

forindooruseonly ...thanks for the kind words. You can tell I like the pic by the number of times I've found opportunity to post it.:D

I made the mistake of picking it up ... the old Colt felt perfect ... GS said it was a "nice gun" ... 105years old and still a fun shooter ,go get ya one!

Don't have a pretty rig. I just drop it into an old, Lawrence Field Side, holster on a canvas/leather belt.( belt ala John Wayne)

Not sure I get the point of this topic. I don't wear guns to show off at a BBQ. What am I missing? Is it a Texas thing?
