I'm having trouble deciding what to get for a 9mm, so I thought I'd ask you folks what has been your best 9mm.

I'm leaning towards a Sig or one of the Beretta Brigadiers from CDNN.

So, what's your best/favorite 9mm?

Chris

Well, 'best' is a subjective, and subject to many factors.

My favorite, much to my own surprise, is the Springfield XD. I asked to see one at a gun store last December only because I wanted to look at the light attached to it. The gun itself was too ugly to interest me. Much to my surprise, I found that it fit my hand perfectly, and felt much more ergonomic than my Glock. Ended up buying it, and have found that I shoot much better with it than with any of my other handguns. Following some advice off of hs2000talk.com, I picked up some .40 cal XD mags, and found that they do indeed hold 15 9mm rounds and function quite well, so I have a good supply of normal capacity mags available.

I have around 2000 rounds out of it so far, with no problems to speak of.

For an all steel gun, I like the CZ 85 Combat. If you want aluminum or plastic I don't know.

Best for me, might not be best for you.

I like the Sig 228, and the Glock 19.

I think the #1 best 9mm auto out there today is the CZ P-01. Comfort, reliability, accuracy, and price all where deciding factors for my reasoning for getting the P-01. I have not been disappointed in the least bit. I can't think of a more versitile 9mm auto. It is small and light enough to be used for CCW, it is accurate enough to impress people at the range, and it is big enough for fill my hands a feel good. Sights are more than adequate for me, trigger is excellant(little long but light), pointability can't be beat. And there is just something about have a CZ 75 in any variety that just helps to round out a colection.

All this and I didn't even mention the torture test that the P-01 survived.

CZ P-01 get NATO approved (details on torture test)

Oh and the P-01 is just sweet looking.

And one more thing, 14 round magazines for less than $20 shipped is hard to beat as well. I have 5 and all preform flawlessly. I have around 700 rounds throuhg the one pictured.

Hey- I can't let the Berettas be ignored. My 92 is by far the most reliable sidearm I've ever used. I replaced the hammer spring with a lighter one (simple to do), and the trigger is much better. Ignore a Beretta- or a Sig- and you might not be totally satisfied. All of the above-mentioned pistols are excellent. No doubt about it. But you also have to see how each feels in your hands and, if possible, how it shoots for YOU.

These are all first rate; try 'em out & see what you think;

Sig P220 9mm
Sig P225
Sig P226
Sig P228
HK USP 9c
CZ P-01
CZ 75B
BHP (Mk III or Standard)
Glock 17
Glock 19
S&W 3913
Beretta 92(FS Vertec & G Elite)
Springfield XD-9 (the 5" Tactical is a tack driver)

These are some of what I consider the "best".

SIG P225
SIG P226
SIG P228
SIG P229
SIG P210
CZ75B
BROWNING/FN Hi-Power
BERETTA 92FS
GLOCK 17
GLOCK 19
STEYR M9
S&W 952
H&K P7M8

All of the above are first-rate 9mm's (I'm sure I've forgotten or am unaware of some other great 9mm's) Alot depends on what you want the 9mm for and how much your willing to pay, and even the size of your mitts.

Oh come on! Nobody's mentioned the Walther P99 yet? I don't own one but my brother does, and it's pretty sweet. Excellent ergonomics (at least for me) and a really nice trigger. Even though I love the thing and recommend it on it's merits as a fine weapon, I don't think I'd buy one until after the AWB sunsets because full capacity mags (16 rounds) for this pistol are rather expensive.

Hey Yowza, you didn't give me time, I was just about to do so!:D

Walther P-99 in the SA/DA trigger configuration. I've tried a G-19, Hi-Power, CZ-75, and a P-94 Ruger. None of them felt as good or shot as accurately as the P-99.

So, there's my "best" recommendation.

It's a subjective question with no answer. Firearms are specific to an individual, and one size does not fit all. There have been some good posts above describing top 9mm autos, but the best one is the one that works for you.

Best 9mm Auto?

Best for what?

Best made?
Best as far as accuracy?
Best at being reliable?
Best as far as carry?
Best at holding its value?
Best as a paperweight?

I own several 9mmx19 pistols by a couple of manufacturers and of different models.
The one that I consider the best is a FS Walther P88.

I consider the Taurus PT-92 to be a sleeper in the field. A licensed copy of the original Beretta 92, it has retained the original sear-blocking safety which allows cocked-and-locked carry, as well as on-safe hammer down. Taurus made the safety ambi, and later added a decock feature. Since my other autos are SA's this also maintains common operation.

Last, but not least, is the fact that Taurus was the first company to offer lifetime service for their guns.

Like others have said, best for you may not be best for me and best for CCW may not be best for target shooting, blah, blah, blah. If I had to pick an answer to such an open ended question, I would pick mt Beretta 92fs. It has been 100% reliable, decently accurate in slow and rapid fire, well made, good trigger, good sights (nite sights), feels good for a full sized double stack, and looks good as well.:D

I would not pick it to CCW but it is my primary home defense weapon because I really trust it more than I have ever trusted any other semi-auto pistol I have owned. I have owned several that were 100% but the Beretta has never come close to jamming and I have tested it with all kinds of ammo under poor conditions. No wonder our military chose it. It is a darn fine pistol. The thing is, it is not the best at anything but it is good at many things so it is my "best" 9mm.

As of this very moment, if I could only keep one handgun, it would be my CZ PCR - which is very similar to the newer CZ P-01 and is a 9mm. Great ergonomics, reasonably light, decent capacity at 14+1, outstanding trigger for a DA/SA with no trigger job. I've only put 300 rounds through mine but they have been 100% reliable and it is currently my daily carry.

I also have the utmost respect for my Taurus PT99. Many, many flawless shots fired and no problems at all. Trigger could be better and the grip isn't the most comfortable, but I'd be glad to take it into a combat role if needed.

Other various CZs, EAAs, SIGs, a Beretta, a Kahr have been trouble free as well but if I could only have one for all purposes, it would be a CZ PCR or P-01. For a dedicated range gun, I'd probably go for one of the all steel CZs.

What is best is up to you I bought a Springfield Xd sup compact 9mm To carry out of all the smaller models it fit me the best . Next on list is the full size 9mm i just like the feel better than most others ive shot

Glock 34. (5" barrel, adjustable sights, 3.5 lb. trigger, extended mag and slide releases) It is the evolution of the 9mm Glock, IMO.

If you don't like polymer, I will add another vote for the CZ75.
