2. CZ 75B
3. Sig 226 ST
4. BHP
5. Glock 19
6. CZ P-01
7. Sig 228

Of the guns I'd like to own:

1. Sig 210
2. SW 952
3. Walther P88

As everyone's said, "best" depends on the pistol's primary intended purpose.

For me the best performers have been CZs. Took me a while to find them, but everything else to me is an also-ran, at any price. If I had a Korth I'd sell it and get and get 4 or 5 more CZs ;)

The best is the Korth

I've read that the SIG P210 is both more reliable and more accurate. Doubt I'll ever be able to decide for myself shooting new examples side by side.

OTH the Korth revolver is reputed to function as nicely as its finished.

ooww, just noticed - nobody said P210 yet.
Allow me: P210

For a nice inexpensive 9mm I can suggest a CZ75BD. If you like the way the SA/DA decocker set up works, like I do, it is a nice weapon. I picked one up LNIB for $375 and have been very happy with it. I just picked up 2 of the 16rnd. mags from CDNN for it.

Since I did not want to leave my carry weapons in my bedroom ready safe I bought this one to be my "bump in the night" weapon. With 16+1 Gold Dots on tap it should serve the purpose well.

P.S. One of those Sig trade-ins would work well also.

Best depends on what you want it for. Concealment is one thing. Competition is another.

There is a lot to be said for the Kahr K9. Just an outstanding weapon. About the same weight as the SW 3913, but a little smaller with a better trigger and without all the safeties.

If I have so much money, I'll go for the Sigs and HK's. If I am saving for another day, I'll take on the Glocks.

I have a Beretta 92FS Inox, Browning Hi Power Practical, Bersa .380 Thunder, and I just picked up a used Taurus 92, the copy of the Beretta based on the older models. I haven't fired it yet to see how it performs.

These are my favorite semi autos.

I also have a Ruger Blackhawk .357 to play around with.

The Korth is nice, but it ain't "all that". They're well put together, but the one I got to handle and shoot wasn't all that reliable. Tight tolerances, I presume.

"Best" is highly subjective as usual, but for my money, the best 9mm semiauto pistol on the market is the SIG Sauer P226/P228, with honorable mention to the Glock 17/19, and the CZ-75.

For a hefty price, the Kahr line made excellent small firearms, over $750 locally.

For a relatively low price, the S&W Sigma 9mm is an excellent buy, trigger is a little heavy, like a NY Glock. $379 locally.

S&W 908, didn't fit my hand.
Glock 26, ok, but trigger was difficult.
Ruger 97 9mm, too large for my hand.
Taurus Millenium, not Pro, didn't like the trigger.

Who tried a few.

Really depends on what your budget is and your list of priorities.

This certainly works well. There are better choices than Sig and CZ that you hear so often around here.

So many great 9mms mentioned here that you couldn,t go wrong with any of them. But, I have to mention two of my most accurate 9mms:

CZ 85 Combat

Para 18.9 LDA Ltd

If you can find an 18.9, it's a great IDPA SSP

I love these kinds of posts... they give people an opportunity to tell everyone what 9mm guns they own.

:)

Well, of course ! The other guns we can't speak as authoritatively about because we don't have as much experience with them, but the fact that we didn't buy those other guns indicates that after careful scrutiny, the other guns came up ... lacking.

Given that, my recommendation is the best 9mm of the guns I own and, to a less informed extent, of all the other guns I considered: my Beretta 92FS !

Reliable, high capacity, "butter smooth" (as Ayoob once wrote), accurate for a service pistol, durable. Someone on The High Road once claimed that the 92 was selected by the U.S. armed forces because it was "the lowest bidder." That's not true. It was the lower bidder of the only two pistols to pass the qualification tests.

I have been eyeing the XD9... definitely want one with a stainless slide. Beautiful gun! My gunshop has XD9 subs on sale for $423 with kydex holster and 3 mags, but this deal doesnt include ones w/ss slides! Darn it! :(
