Bride needs 9mm for CC. Very many options, but I do not have clear pic of way to go..as always, many opinions,,, she is shooting Glock 17 now but needs new for carry...

Tks..

Given the options out there, I'd suggest handling a few.

I like the grip safety on the XD, just because I feel better about tossing it somewhere. For a purse gun that could get mixed up with other stuff, I'd consider something with more safety provisions than a Glock.

I know the Glock cult will attack this assertion, but my question is simple: how can it hurt to have a safety system that accounts for more possible types of accidents?

If it's not a purse gun, and it will be in a secure holster, then this is much less of a concern IMO.

Various pistols have different ergonomics. I'd try a few if she can. Some will feel natural, some will feel odd, some will feel downright wrong. Given the number of quality guns out there, I'd pick the one that feels natural in the hands.

That ad was even more effective when CZs were under 400 bucks instead of 700, but CZ makes a hell of a pistol.

(Kicking myself for not buying a few when they were between $300 and $400, not too long ago...)

Glock 19. I carry one frequently (including today).

Carrying ANY firearm loose in a purse is not the best idea. Get a purse designed for carry, or affix a holster to the inside of the purse. Don't choose a gun based on a dubious method of carry.

+1 to armoredman's post.
CZ all the way. They are just incredibly good, reliable weapons.
The fact that the P-01's are NATO classed speaks softly with a big stick.
They tortured the crap out of that model, with the result that it is a
Winner under conditions the normal civilian would never even come close to.

Look at the Kahr PM9. Many rave reviews. Small, thin, light and still 9mm.

Of course I reccommend she pick the one she likes, based on range time.

My friend didn't like the J-frame whatsoever, and chose my P11 instead.

CW-9 makes the most sense. PM-9 is too small.

But, of course, go to a range and rent several and see which one SHE likes and would actually carry.

It's tough to top a Walther P99C for performance, reliability, accuracy, durability, and accuracy. It's a terrific gun at any price and often can be secured for under $600. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one to any serious shooter/enthusiast.

+1 on that rami 9mm, have the alloy version and as reliable as the sun rising, plenty accurate and the feel of it in your hand is like it was molded there, specially with that 4 rd extention

Since it sounds like she is already proficient w/ her 17, I would recommend a 19 or 26 -- plus she has the advantage of being able to use the same mags

+1 Kahr CW9. I love mine and am dead A$$ accurate with it after only a few range trips.

Okay I know most people hate S&W Polymers but I would suggest the M&Pc in 9mm. I have one and use it for my conceal carry with an inside the waistband holster. It has the same functions of a Glock but it fits my hand better and is extemely accurate for a gun with less than a 4 inch barrel. For 500 bucks you can pick your wife one of these up and when you want you can get a 250 dollar set of Crimson Trace Laser grips that fits in place of the backstrap.
And now the S&W bashing will begin...
