Which 9mm would you choose?

An S&W M&P .40 with a Storm Lake 9mm barrel. Two for the price of well 1.25.
I would do a .40c. You can then use full size .40 or 9mm magazines for high round count or higher caliber (I didn't say better) rating with X-Mags.

The bases you have covered, 9mm for inexpensive range work or lower recoil. Compact for easier concealed carry, X-Mag, full sized mags for HD increased capacity, and .40 or 9mm.

For home defense I use a Ruger SR9. 17rd mag, full size, and confident in the reliability. For CC I like the Bersa .380 Thunder with HP's. It has double action and a larger grip which makes it a little less easy to conceal, however, I can control it better out of the chute. One scenario I consider having been a former LEO is the BG getting his hand on it. The small grips of those that are easy to conceal allow him to take it out of my hand easily. The Bersa? He has to struggle in which time and with the double action it will be all over but the crying.

Here is the difference in width between the Kahr and Glock....

The gun on the left does not look like a Kahr. I'm looking at my Glock 29 and Kahr PM40 and the gun on the left is not a Kahr. What type of Kahr do you claim this to be? Looks more lime a Ruger LCP.

I am in the market for a compact 9mm for concealed carry and range fun. I have narrowed my decision down to three contenders. The Ruger SR9c, Glock 26 and Kahr CW9. I have shot them all and could not pick a clear cut winner.

Well I can pick a clear winner, the G26 is easily the class of your three choices. The Ruger is manufactured by a firm with a very questionable track record of centerfire pistol production, further the Ruger has almost 60 parts to the Glock's 34!

The Kahr is a decent offering, but they have garnered a reputation for breakage, doesn't matter though as it's no match for a Glock. The G26 is really, one of the best CCW pistols ever produced, they are tack drivers, they don't rust, are flawlessly reliable, and durable far beyond your needs, or very likely your ability to seriously damage it. If you do damage it, it's parts availability is virtually instantaneous, and best of all the mechanism is so simple that a 10-year old could fix it with but an hours worth of instruction.....

It's a no-brainer, buy the G26, better yet, buy the G26 and a G19....;)

You're right that's not a Kahr CW9 in the pic!

It's a Kel-Tec P32!!!

I thougt that looked too small for a CW9.

Here's the site that pic comes from.

Here's some pics of the Kahr P9 and the G26 from the same site.

I love all the suggestions that don't match any of the three finalists. Of your 3, I would choose the Glock. Reliable and lots of aftermarket support for almost anything you could ever want for it.

...

I would agree but, to me, it would come down to "the grip", which offered the best, most natural, comfort and balance, "feel"..

And, with that, I'd have to choose, go with, the Kahr cw9 (the one pictured next to the Glock) above.. with the slightly longer, more full, grip which is always gonna offer more support with both point and shoot accuracy along with better, more accurate, quick/fast follow-up shots with on-going accuracy via a fuller, more natural, grip and feeling of balance/control.

OMMV,

Best of luck,

Ls

My bad, I saved alot of pic comparisons on my computer when I was trying to decide what to buy.
The Kahr is still alot smaller than the Glock. But if you are larger framed maybe you can hide a double stack well. I couldn't.
I will admit that at first I liked the Glock's trigger better because it mimics a SA well after giving up on my 1911. I soon got used to a DA trigger well though.

For IWB carry, I really like (and have) the Walther PPS (Police Pistol Slim). It is super slim, which is important for IWB.

I'd also look into a 1911 styled option. For example, the Colt Defender can be found in 9mm.

Carry guns are like (relatively expensive) underwear. Unfortunately, you just never know until you try it on with a good holster and a gunbelt proper. Some people say they need a slim pistol. Others (myself included) can carry something sized like a glock 19 IWB comfortably in shorts and a t-shirt. I'm not talking about extra baggy clothes, either...just regular snug fitting clothes. Some of m pants or shorts aren't even +2 sized and I carry the 19 fine IWB. Just make sure you train regularly with whatever you carry. Comfort is entirely relative to the user.

buddy go check out the springfield xd series.....
They offer a compact version ( at least in the newer XDm line) i have a first gen xd 9 ( full size) and i absolutely love it. and that's coming from a die hard wheelgun guy.

I am off work on Friday and shall make the choice then. Can't wait. Lots to think about. I know I've said this before but I'll say it again, thanks to everyone for the input it's been super helpful.

Good luck, and remember to pick what YOU want, no matter what the internet guy or the "expert" behind the counter says.

Don't overlook the Ruger SR9C. I have shot and owned subcompact glocks and XD's.

The Ruger is a good size (big enough to hold, small and light enough to conceal easily), low recoil, low cost. The only negative is there are not as many holsters available for it.

It is a bit ugly but if you are even considering a glock you dont care about ugly.

Oh... almost forgot. I had a PM9. Loved the size (didn't like the high cost) but it was tight and never functioned reliably. Mine was not a jamomatic but is was not far off.

The Glock 9mm. Hardy, general all around good for use, target shooting, self defense, etc. It is accurate, easy to use, easy to tear down and clean and priced fair. There are many brands and companies that make good guns but I'm definitely a GLock fan and have several.
