SF CA has recently broguht "Black Talons" back into the headlines. I think that Black Talon has to be one of the best ammo names of all time! Are there any other nominees?

Eargesplitten Loudenboomer. Granted, that's a joke cartridge name by P.O. Ackley.

I like Gold Dot for a name, though Federal Hydra-Shok is also very good. Very recognizable and easy to remember, even though Hydra-Shoks are completely obsolete by modern standards.

I don't know if the ammo names at FireQuest are the best, but if you read the descriptions, you'll get a good laugh.

    http://www.firequest.com/exotic-shotgun-ammo.html

For example, the "12 Gauge Terminator X" is described as:

"The lethality contained within the hollow core slug of our terminator 12 GA almost can't be advertised. Upon impact, this slug mushrooms and expands to nearly two inches, stopping the slug from totally penetrating your objective. This rapid expansion forces the dozen of tiny pellets to spread through your objective like a cancerous disease, opening an area at the impact point equal to a softball. The cavity created has the shock effect of 95%. That means only 5% of any living being could survive this kind of hit. 2 3/4" round"

I have bought Winchester .45 ACP SXT s in 1995 and Federal Hydrashok. Both were the best of its design in those times. NOw the Aguila brand didnt feed well bec the cavity was so wide.

I think someone should make a new design bullet and name it Boomberg; as a little needling to the mayor.

I think that "Wide Mouth" was already used by a beer company.

I always liked Winchester's Ranger name along with Woodleigh (which sounds like something that should be loaded in front of cordite in one's double rifle).
