I don't do it. Guns are either under my direct control or in safe stoage. A car trunk is not safe storage. There is too great of a chance of having a gun stolen, and putting a firearm in the wrong hands.
A KT Sub2K on the floorboard (in a pizza box) is worth two in the trunk.
Q: Can I leave my gun in my car if I need to go into the store on my way home from the range or from hunting?
A: If your handgun or large capacity rifle or shotgun is transported in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. c. 140, §131C (i.e. unloaded and in a locked case, locked trunk or other secure container) then the gun may be left unattended in the vehicle. Weapons transported in this manner will automatically be considered "stored or kept" in compliance with the safe storage requirements of §131L.
Problem with stowing a gun in the car is that they rust.
I have been considering putting my AKMS (underfolder) in the locked storage compartment in the back. Since I live in WA state, I would have to keep it unloaded.
Nope. Handguns can be loaded (if you have a CPL), but rifles can not. It's just one of the fun little parts of living in WA. It's a gun law, it doesn't have to make sense, lol.I don't understand this part. I know it's illegal to have a loaded rifle in the vehicle during hunting season, but if you have a CPL and can have a loaded weapon on your side why can't you have a loaded rifle in the trunk while driving around town?
