Concealed Carry Questions?

I've carried since 1991 (CA), then stopped in 1997 (after the wedding, wife's not too fond of guns) -- then I'm back again, going on 2 months now.

I used carry Beretta 92FS, then swithched to S&W5906 (Nickel) and then to SIG P229 (.357), then NONE! for 6 years. My current carry is a 2003 Taurus PT92AR SS.

But currently in search of a much compact pistol.

I've carried for about 10 years or so (?). First gun was an HK USP40 fullsize (!), then a Glock 29, and now a 5" 1911 in .45, with a Taurus .38 on rare occasion.

Got religion in '00 and went to a 45acp for standard, daily carry (I shift between an SA 1911A1 MilSpec-Gov't, and an SA 1911A1 Champion both OWB)

"Got religion", haha, nice.

I've been carrying regularly with a Springfield 1911 for oh, 6-7 months now. However, since the thread title is asking "concealed", I should note that it's carried openly.

I've been carrying for 16 years, starting the day I turned 21. My first carry weapon was a Sig P225. After a number of different pistols I'm now carrying a CZ P-01.

I have been carrying since 1994, when I got hired as a LEO (since this is a socialist state and no one can CCW :cuss: ).

From 1994 to 1998, I carried either a 9mm P226 or an old .38 S&W model 60 (when I carried).

1998-2002, it was my duty pistol (a Glock 23). Late 2002, I had a wake-up call. I got serious about carrying religiously off-duty. My winter carry is either my 23 or a Glock 27. My summer carry is usually a S&W 337PD. I have a P3AT I drop into my pocket when working around the house/yard/walk down the street to the parents'.

I've had my permit for 9 months, but Uncle Sam had me "carrying" for a couple years before that :D . With the permit, my first carry was a GI 1911 Mil-Spec. Now it's a Kimber Custom Eclipse II or a Glock 19 depending on attire.

Had my permit a little over a year. Started with a Star PD in a shoulder holster, then acquired a FEG PA-63 for a BUG (in boot). Eventually replaced FEG with a Taurus 605. Recently got a Kimber Compact CDP which has allowed me to retire the Star.

I first carried on the family ranch when I was about 15, an old Ruger .22 convertible revolver that I used with varying success on squirrels and jackrabbits. These days I often prefer a Hi Power like in this thumbnail:

When I get my FL CCW I'll be able to carry some places and have all lined up my CZ 85 Compact with HBE COM II IWB holster and a CZ RAMI with an HBE pocket holster.

I always try to remember my two 4" folding knives, Streamlight Twin Task 2L and Leatherman Wave and situational awareness.

Four years. Glock 30 in a Blade-Tech IWB, then a Comp-Tac Gurkha, now a Comp-Tac C-TAC (also the Gurkha at times).

As backup or "small" guns, a Keltec P32, S&W 649, and Bersa Thunder .380 all got holster time. I nearly had to use the S&W twice.

Concealed carry since 1966

Started with a S&W Chief's Special for a about 3 weeks.
Went to a Govt Model 45 carried Messican for years.
When Colt came out with the 10mm I switched and never looked back.

Still pack a Gummint model 10mm all day everyday, but I got a 10mm in CCO configuration on order. I'm gittin' old and got to lighten the load!!
;)

I have carried a Glock 27 with a PPKS in .32 as a BUG and now I carry a Glock 19 with night sights. I can not imagine carrying anything else.

Glock 33 for around 7 months. It is a great weapon and I love having it on my hip. It is not too thick and not too heavy, more than accurate enough and more than powerful enough. I use a wilderness tactical belt and glock factory holster.

Since 1997...started with a Glock 23...then went to a S&W 66 4 inch barrel...Carried a 220 for a little while then a 225...but I have found that I am a serious wheel gunner and have went back a 66 only this time with a 2.5 pipe...I have a 386PD that I keep in my soft sided leather brief case...I bought a SA 1911 for fun shooting...but I have really fell in love with the platform and have found my self carring it lately...and even thinking about adding night sights among some other changes...what is it about a 1911 that make them so irresistible...I was told on this fourm that if I ever bought one that I would fall in love and then have to save my nickels to buy more or to make modifications...I always have a .38 Model 37 in my front pocket or in a ankle holster.

Been carrying since about two weeks after Ohio's CCW law went into effect, or about 9 months now. First gun was a springfield XD40 which carries well but is really too large for summertime attire. Bought a keltec p11 for that.

About 4 months now, Ruger P89, IWB. Its a little big but still conseals completely, still i'm looking for something smaller...just cant decide what i want.... maybe i'll get a few.... :D :D

I've been carrying ever since (Governor at the time now President) George Bush signed the concealed carry law in Texas. That would be about 8 years. My first carry gun was a SIG P226 (Novak custom) in 9 MM. I've been through a few different carry guns over the years, and have currently settled on a Glock 35 (that's the .40 tactical).

A few months ago I took out several good pistols to see which one was best for me. My conclusion at the end of the study was I shot them all equally well (or badly as the case may be :) )

Regards to All

I've been carrying almost all my adult life. I have carried one or another M1911 (as a professional soldier, it was just natural.) I like it because of its reliability and power. With its flat profile, it also conceals easily.

Having said that, I recently got a great bargain on a Colt Detective Special which I drop in a pocket from time to time.

I've been carrying my Kimber TLE for about 6 months now. I'm currently using a G-Code IWB.

Ive been carrying for 12+ years

currently a glock 23 with 2 spare mags and a surefire

I've carried for more than 7 years. I started out with a lovely old Springfield National Match, with a Walther PPK/S and OC spray. These days it's always my S&W 649, ASP, knife, occasionally an American Derringer Model 1 and Walther PPK/S, usually with either my Kimber Stainless Compact or HK USP Compact.

I do have my Desert Eagle .44 mag and my Super Redhawk on my weapons card, and carry either when I'm off the beaten path in cold weather.

Lights vary according to need, going all the way from flashlights to 1 million cp Night Tracker. . .

125 grs is 1250 fps, probably not enough velocity to expand the jhp much, if at all, and very slow repeat hits. The 158 loads are more like 1050 fps, almost guaranteed not to expand in flesh. What they do in jello is irrelevant. Misses and poor hits are the rule in combat, not the exception, so repeat hit speed is very important.

The Kahr PM9 9mm is smaller and lighter than the PPK, and CorBon 90 gr ammo is 1400+ fps, same 400 ft lbs as the 125 gr 357 in a 2" barrel. The 100 gr CorBon PowRBall is 1350 fps, for almost 400 ft lbs.

That's why I like my own self-defense load in my Colt Detective Special -- a +P 148-grain wadcutter. A wide nose, a substantial weight of bullet, and going as fast as I can get it to go from that 2" barrel.

eightysix;

That's very nice of you to do all that comparative work! I like what my choices in personal firearms are, I've had many of them for years and know their ways, their reliability; and they work nicely with all seasons of my wardrobe.

There are many firearms on my 'wish list,' but my means are limited and there are other demands on my slim discretionary funds.

Thank you so much for your research!

Trisha
