Concealed Carry Questions?

Started about fifteen years ago with an Iver Johnson Pony. Not the
best gun ever made!
Now its a 9x18 makarov. I like how reliable it is.

Wow....let me see......I started carrying my Dads S&W Model 10 about the age of 10 when rabbit huntin here in Texas. I carried a 1911 while performing Shore Patrol duty in the Navy. Shot customized 1911's and target grade 22's for competition as well. I was given my first handgun on my 21 birthday....4" Colt Python and carried it anytime I was in the outdoors...which was pretty much all my waking hours. Bought my first Smith it was a Model 25-5. Carried it as backup when hunting. Sold the 4" Python for an 8" model and scoped it for whitetail hunting at age of 24, and carried a Ruger Security Six as a backup and personal protection. Sold them both and bought a Stainless Ruger Redhawk 7 1/2" barrel with scope rings. Scoped it and continued my hunting. Backed it up with a Taurus 44 special snubby. Kept the Ruger but traded the 44 for my first my first semi-auto a SIG P245. Used it to qualify for my Texas CHL two years ago. Bought the wife a Ruger SP 101 DAO after she shot my best friends. I carry it sometime but now always carry a KelTec P11 in the pocket of any pants I wear. It's like my American Express card.....I never leave home without it. I either carry my SIG P220, P245 or my Springfield Armory Champion as my daily carry backed up by the KelTec. Oh I almost forgot the stainless Taurus 41 mag I sometime carry in my fanny pack. So I guess I have been actively carrying for about 36 years, 98% of the time. Prior to the CHL coming into effect we could carry while traveling so I excercised those rights. Sorry about the long story, its how my mind works, and I tend to write it as I think it.

I'll play...

I started carrying May 19, 2003. I used the same rig then that I do now, a stock Glock 23 in a Fobus paddle holster. Cheap, reliable, comfortable. When I get the money to buy some other guns I like (1911, HiPower, SIG 220, Beretta 92, etc) I may at least try a few other options. But I'm pretty satisfied with my Glock as a carry gun and don't see it changing anytime soon.

Newbie to forum, but here's my two cents

Been carrying 20+ years....started with Smith K frames, and from then to now, 1911, Beretta M9 (92F), Sig M11 (M228), Glock 19/23.

Have settled on J frame 37 in pocket and Glock36 in Hume JIT as my cc guns, (based on availability of ammo) and adjust based on the situation from there.

My usual is a P-3AT in a pocket. Sometimes a Detective Special or 1911A1 Compact, using IWB carry.

Now, bigmike45, I hope there was a typo in "Bought the wife a Ruger SP 101 DAO after she shot my best friends." Or a story that turns out OK. Care to share?

I got my first CCW permit when Florida enacted the Right to Carry back in 1987. Florida was the first state to issue permits as we know it today. Prior to that they were very hard to get.I've had one ever since 1987. My first carry gun was a Charter Arms Undercover.I've retired it and carry either a Glock M-27 or a S&W M-649.To me having a CCW is the best insurance one can have.I never leave home without having something on or about my person.

Ruger Redhawk

Been carrying for 4 years. I keep a S&W Sigma .380 in the truck. Carried an Astra A-80 9+1 .45ACP until I got a tuned ParaOrdinance P-10 (had to tune it to get it reliable).

New CCW...

Per my last post I was carrying a full size Taurus PT92 AR SS. I have switched twice since then. I carried a Springfield XD40. But now I carry a SiG Sauer SP2340.

Little History:
1991 - 1997
Beretta 92FS
Beretta 96D SS
Beretta 950B .32
S&W 5906
SiG P229 (.40/.357)

**Stopped for 7 years**

2004 - Present
Taurus PT92 AR SS
Springfield XD40 4" Service
SiG Pro 2340

Peace,

3 years. Started with a S&W 4013TSW and still carry it, alternating with a SIG 239 in .40, and sometimes supplemented by a S&W 638 or a NAA Guardian .380. Carrying only the Smith now as the SIG is having nite-sights installed.

First was a S&W M&P--1951. :)

First permit was in the early sixties.

Current permit since 1970, current carry today is two on the belt. S&W21-4 and H&KP7M8.

5+ years in this state. 1rst gun Kahr K40. For awhile tried a Springfield 1911, but once summer hit I switched to a 23 Glock.
Then when it got REALLY warm I found my present carry, the Glock 27. Fits well, so I carry as often as possible. Accurate and always goes "BANG" when I want it to.
When wearing shorts/no shirt it's a J-Frame in Plus P in the pocket or belly bag.
