I know I've asked this before, but I left some options out, so I want to do this over again.
Which defensive handgun ammo do you think is the best, interms of stopping power/expansion?

Depends on caliber and weight!

Personally I use 180 gr Winchester Ranger Law Enforcement ammo in my .40 S&W and I want to get the 147gr version of that for my 9mm. Currently my 9mm is loaded with 124gr Rem. Golden Sabre GS9MMB.

I voted for "Other," which for me means all of the above. :D

On one condition though.

They must feed reliably in my carry gun.

Winchester .40 180gr SXT's in the primary carry gun. .357 Rem 125gr Golden Sabres in one of the back-up guns & Federal 230 gr Hydra-shocks in the .45ACP.

Depends on the caliber.

In 9x19 I'd say Winchester Ranger-T 127gr +P+ is the closest thing to a consensus winner.

.45 ACP I like Remington Golden Saber 230gr.

10mm I'd pick Pro Load 155gr.

Sadly no straight forward answer from me, so I voted "other". I have different loads for different guns based on how that load worked in that gun. Given the high standard all of the premium loads work to meet I doubt that there really is a lot of difference between the loads. None will be 100% in every situation. The best you can do is test some loads in your gun, keeping in mind your needs.

I currently have loads of Silvertips, Gold Dots, Hydra Shock, and Ranger SXT loaded in my different pistols.

I don't know what's 'best', but I carry Winchester Supreme 165 gr in my .40 Smith, Federal 158 gr SWCHP +P in my .38 snubbie, both because of proven performance for reliability and penetration (and possible expansion) in tests, and Remington green box 95 gr FMJ in my .380 NAA Guardian because of proven penetration and hoped-for reliability. There isn't any premium FMJ available in .380 that I've been able to find.

I carry South African ball in my FAL, but I'm still looking for a holster . . . .

Black Hills Gold Dot.

BTW, you're missing Hornady XTP, a favorite among reloaders.

Ranger Talon in all my handguns.

I think I like the design of the Corbon Powerball... any problems with that design?

Yes, it's a light bullet with a non-bonded jacket. They tend to separate, fragment and under penetrate. Also, with a modern hollowpoint like the ranger talon or gold dot, the clogging really isn't a problem like it used to be. Talons with the reverse taper jacket also tend to penetrate barriers better than the powerball.

I agree with 3 gun and voted other.I haven't found one brand that works very well in all of my handguns. It must be reliable and accurate first and well designed, because of this i use starfires, gold dots,cor-bons and winchester personal protection.

Depends on the caliber.

I run 230gr. Golden Sabers in my 1911 due to it's very FMJ like profile. I chose those for reliability.

I chose 165gr. Golden Sabers for my CZ-40 for it's high marks in one stop shots. Not that I really put a lot of faith in those stats, but it seems to get good marks from many sources and many police depts. have high confidence in it.

For my 9mm CZ-75, I went with Pro-load +P 124gr. with Gold Dot bullets. This gun will feed almost anything reliably. I like this round for it's accuracy and the Gold Dot gets high marks from many sources.

I still haven't decided what to go with for my .357 wheelgun. Right now, I'm using 125gr. Hydrashoks, but they feel kinda wimpy to me. I think I'm going to go with a Pro-Load or Speer round for it.

I voted other. Providing they will feed reliably, any of them will work provided I do my job.

Winchester Ranger 9mm, 127 gr +P+.
My carry gun seems to like it and I have heard it endorsed by several experts. A little hard to get though. Anyone have any sources?

My 9mm carry gun uses Gold Dots. Hey, they're made in Idaho! And I also like the performance.

My .380, OTOH, likes the 102gr. Golden Sabres the best.

I voted "other" because I like Hornady 115-grain XTP JHPs. Due to my informal tests, they've performed very well and they seem to be the most accurate in my experience.

Wes

EDIT: That's in 9mm, BTW.
