I would also like to see test results from ProLoad's 10mm line up. Mike at DT also has 3 Gold Dot loads I would like to see tested. He just announced a 155gr. GD at 1475fps.

45 SUPER

This bad boy kills the bad guys, bury's them AND sends the family flowers. :D

Problem is, factory 45 Super is so watered down it is no more "powerful" than real 10mm. I have around 6000 rounds of 45 Super through my G21C and G30.

We load our 45S with a 1403 Vel and 808 energy.

I also shoot 10MM with a 1400 vel and 718 energy. And at this rate it is probably the most unaccurate round on earth.

I've shot a 10mm and a 45S at a 10 Ga. 3 x 3 B.I. sheet and I laughed at my S&W 10mm after that. It is now retired to closet duty.

I think max. loaded 45 Super falls in the same catagory as max. loaded 10mm...too much for self defense. Besides, I really don't think todays SD JHPs are built for this kind of velocity. All the velocity in the world doesn't mean crap if the bullet fails. It's kind of like horsepower in a car. If you can't get it to the ground, it's wasted. Todays JHPs are built to expand and penetrate at LOWER velocities to give us lower recoiling guns. Remember the two original 10mm loads? A FMJ and a JHP whos jacket was so thick it rarely, if ever, expanded at all. I think in .45acp, a 200gr. slug at 1050fps or a 230gr. at 950fps (+P velocity) will do anything you could ever need from a SD JHP. In 10mm I like loads that fall bewteen .40 and full-throttle loads. A 155gr. at 1400fps, 165gr. at 1350fps or a 180gr. at 1200fps will work just fine. A 200gr. JHP at 1050fps would be just fine, too. This would be downloaded for a 10mm, but still equals a +P .45acp with better section density.

Hi All: I truly believe all of the modern hollowpoints are fairly effective. I shoot primarily 9mm and have had the best accuracy and feed reliability with the standard pressure Federal Classic 9BP load.

I voted for the Hydra-shok(357's) I carry in my SP101 in the winter...I'm looking forward to the Cor-bon power ball though I can't find it aroun here, and I'm not sure if it's available in 38 or 357 yet.....

I use Silver Tips just because they work in all of my guns. But I may change to Golden Sabres, from what I hear they work well. I just have to test them in my guns first, and that can be expensive.

I use diffrent loads for diffrent calibers.

41 magnum I use 210 grain lswc loaded to 1100 fps
45 acp I use 230 grain Gold Dots
357 magnum I use Georgia Arms 158 grain jhp
38 special I use Winchester 158 grain lswchp +p
9mm my wife use 115 grain +p gold dots
