Just want to remind people that these hard times are causing people to do desperate things.

My sister was attacked last night, she was grabbed from behind going to her car at her own house, she could not draw her gun fast enough so she kicked him in the ribs , she heard them crack, and he ran off. She was pretty shook up even though she works as a sherrifs dispatch and her husband is a officer. You are just never prepared.

She always thought in that situation she would be able to draw a gun but things happen so fast you are just not prepared when it happens.

This weekend Im Headin to the ranch with my wife and sister to do some training and work on drawing your weapon and target acquisition.
I just wanted to share this with y'all, the women are more vulnerable and they should be properly aware of what could happen in these tough times.

Things do happen very quickly. It is hard to be prepared. She handled herself pretty well. Garages are good protection against this kind of thing as you can get into your car before exposing your unshielded person to any outside unknowns.

Awesome moves she had though. Bet the perp will think different next time.

Bummer that it happened to her and I am very happy she made it through the valley.
One thing I am curious about though.
You said it happened outside her house.
Was this your typical suburban neighborhood home or some dreaded apartment complex parking lot?
If it was a regular house was it on a corner lot or close to a nearby business such as a fast food place or convenience store??

It was outside her home, 2nd from the corner, quiet lil town about hour northwest of ft worth tx... her garage is full and has no room for her SUV, in going to make sure they get some more security lights up there.
Could have been a perp that has it out for her husband, he has hauled many to jail, no way to tell. I'm just glad she us safe.

She was taken by surprise. That will usually shake anyone up.

Despite being taken by surprise, and despite not being able to draw her gun, she did act. And apparently very effectively too. I think she did well. And she is less likely to be taken by surprise again.

And yes, things are going to get alot worse.

I am so glad she is ok. Everything is a learning experience and I am sure that she will take a couple of looks in each direction now.

She did great. I hope it only increased her alertness level but not to the point of paranoid. She did what was needed, I applaud her.

Geeezzz.....that was close. Glad she's alright but shaken I'm sure. Have they found the BG or have a reason for this happening ?

Glad for you and your family that all turned out well. I just recently read somewhere that going to your car is one of the most vulnerable times for a robbery or carjacking.

That's just it... you never know how things will go down but thankfully she was ok and now knows another situation to train for.

Concealed Carry Video

NRA produced a new DVD on Personal Protection Outside the Home and almost half of it is devoted to women and how to carry and draw a handgun quickly and safely. Shows a pretty realistic scenario of a woman about to be attacked in an underground parking garage. Instructors use it when they teach Concealed Carry classes but it's available to NRA members.

Just curious: Was a K-9 officer called to the scene to do a track of the suspect? What, if any, were the results? Any witnesses?

Lots of "he"s learn the same hard lesson. A gun is not an I WIN button.

Glad your 'sis is OK.

Well done. Tell her friends, especially those who do not wish to carry, that the lack of a gun in no way means one has to become a victim!

Re : FIGHT

1. Fight.
2. Fight Hard.
3. Keep Fighting.
4. Use whatever you have available.
5. Fight until the threat is gone.

Partner of mine had his wife murdered after a carjacking. Perp drove her to a secluded place, told her to walk away and turn around, then shot/killed her.

From that day on I swore I'd always fight and/or run -- to the end......
