Do most gun owners drive pickup trucks?

Do you own, or have you in the past owned a pickup truck

  • Yes as a gun owner, I also own or have owned a pickup truck (an SUV or similar does NOT qualify!!)

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as grumpy.

I would be very interested, though, in a poll of what THR members currently own. I think that would be more relevant to whether or not the stereotype is valid than whether one has ever owned one.

OK. Sorry if I was too harsh. I was a tad annoyed. That poll sounds interesting. I'll keep an eye out for it on General.

but maybe you already figured that out from my sig line

2003 Dodge Ram, with the hemi.

Yep, this is my 3rd full size pickup. In the past, I've had several SUVs too. I had my first truck about a week before my first gun.

No matter how you try to rationalize, Jeep Wranglers are still for women and pansies.

Typical pickup truck owner attitude before they make fools out of themselves trying to wheel with me.:neener:

Standard transmission, Turbo Diesel, 4 Wheel Drive.

It's about as much 'truck' as I'll ever need to transport my butt and guns to the range or hunting area.

Here is my primary mode of transportation. My wife drives the newer 4-runner but I like this better. ;)

dont_matr, NICE car...

My wife wants one of those someday...we're both stuck with 4-doors for now, though.

Against Type?

I used to drive a truck, then I got married then I drove a Grand Cherokee (LOVED IT) then my wife made me get civilized and I drove a car for four years. I just bought my Toyota Fj Cruiser! A thing of Beauty, especially with a GunVault installed! YEAH!

I am country.

I drive a big, loud, z71.

I like guns.

So what? People might think because I a truck that I might have a .45 in there with me. I do. So I guess the stereotype is right.

What if you drive a Jeep Wrangler AND an F-150 Supercrew? I need my pickup to pull my boat and haul huge items, plus it rides like a Cadillac on the highway. Then I need my Jeep for the weekends, beach, trails, mud, rock or whatever. It's the best of both worlds.

Yup, pickemups are the norm for me. Funny, but just a few years ago I had never owned a pickup truck. Now I have 2 and have had 3. Now it's a 2003 Harley Davidson F-150 for the daily driver and a 2000 Lightning for fun and good times.

Since my wife and me didn't buy the trucks cause they are cool or because we own guns but because we actually need them, I could think of a more interesting poll; Do you carry a rifle in your pickup truck? I see many old trucks with gun racks mounted around here but most are empty...I usually keep my winchester 1300 defender under my rear seat.

I've never owned a pickup truck, though that's likely to change with my next vehicle purchase.

I think the important thing to remember is that today's P/U trucks are friggin' gorgeous and have all the ride and amenities of a luxury sedan!

Is it still a pickup truck when it has four doors, satnav system, air cushion ride, onboard televisions, 5-cd changer..... I mean, really!?
