Oh no, the majority of the board is composed of (other) rednecks. I'm shocked.

We can't learn anything from this board about whether most gun OWNERS drive pickup trucks. We can only find out about gun NUTS. (And of course gun nuts have to have pickups to move their gun safes and pallets of Mosins around).

That said, I've never owned a pickup, and am thus morally superior to you guys. In Hollywood's opinion, anyway. (Owning a pickup is linked to having a small business, and we all know what kind of evils small businessmen perpetrate: tax evasion, smuggling, evading regulations, polluting, and sometimes even the ultimate sin against coolness: productive work.)

2 motorcycles
1 vintage porsche
1 VW passat wagon
1 Toyota Tacoma p/u (I guess I can be a victim of stereotyping)

Yes I have two pickups. They have nothing to do with firearms. I need them to haul/tow things. I drive a car whenever possible.

I'm not reading all 200+ responses.

But saying my jeep CJ is an SUV makes me :barf:

Saying it doesn't qualify as a truck makes me want to take you 4 wheeling and illustrate what few trucks qualify for too.

All funning aside, I have car for daily driving and my jeep for fair weather enjoyment every since I crated the soft top beyond repair.

I drive a Scion XB great car. I even got one in a tacticool color Camoflage Metalic kind of a dark gray green with a little metal to it.

Ben, don't get your panties in a wad. I'm sorry if my casual remark wasn't carefully worded enough to reflect correctly on this pointless gunboard poll. I'll try again.

61 - 63 percent of usernames on this gun board (which may not have a one-to-one correspondence with actual people and may or may not even own guns and may in fact be thirteen years old) and like to answer polls claimed to have owned a pick-up truck over the course of their lives.

Is that better?

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as grumpy.

I would be very interested, though, in a poll of what THR members currently own. I think that would be more relevant to whether or not the stereotype is valid than whether one has ever owned one.

Where I grew up it was " braggin rights" to place your rifle in the gun rack in a pickup. Nowadays it will do nothing but get you into trouble and that goes for double trouble here in Maryland. They will throw the book at you.

Your poll is nees something. :)

I want choices!
Truck
Monster Truck
Car
SUV
UAV (Urban assault vehicle)
HUMMV
Armored car
Tank
Hover tank
Bolo Mark XXX planetary siege unit.

:what:

It seems that the sterotype is true at least on THR. In my own opinion it seems to be true that most people that own firearms drive pickups and large SUVs. I have seen it with my own eyes.

I have owned pickups for years (right now a Ford Ranger) but when I go shooting I always use the minivan (Honda Odessey, previously Dodge Caravans). I want all of my stuff inside the vehicle where I can hide it.

streakr

the stereotype some seem to have about those of us who do own pickups and/or guns; that is, that we're all a bunch of knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers who will shoot someone at the slightest provocation.

You are telling me that we are actually normal people?

Well, SolaScriptura, I try to project an air of normalcy, but I don't always manage to pull it off. Feel better? :D
