I was making a post recently, where I stated that I carry when I'm at home with a pistol in a shoulder harness. I got a reaction from someone who seemed quite surprised that I carried at home. I always thought that most gun owners carried when they were at home, or would at least be open to the idea. Well, that got me thinking about what others do when at home. Do you feel safe in your own home and walk around in condition white? Unless you live in a reinforced underground concrete bunker, this may not be the wisest course of action. What are your thoughts about carrying at home and around the house?
I like the shoulder harness, because if someone knocks on the door, I can throw on a windbreaker or jacket, and quickly cover the gun so as not to freak out the Mormons, Mailman, neighbor kids, or whoever else might knock on my door. Sure, it's my house, and I can do what I want in there, but I'd rather not have the neighbor kids/mailman or Mormons talk about the "gun nut" that lives down the street. I think the wrong person might hear about it, and rob me for my precious guns when I'm not home.
What do you think? Paranoid or prepared?
