Me? Oh...:uhoh:

Someone in our house saw "Mines" signs offered on Ebay. I want one.

I've always liked the "Forget the Dog, Beware of Owner" Sign with a business end view of a revolver. I personally don't have a sign.
I have two big Labs, if you're accompanied by a member of the family in our home, you're fine. Show up unannounced at the door and their very deep barking is quite intimidating, though if you got in they might lick you to death.

Currently no Dogs. sniff...

When I did have Dogs - I did not use the "Beware of Dog" signs.

I did have the window stickers the Firemen at the local Fire station provided : "Save our Dogs"

[they had " Save our Pet" , " Save our Cat" , Save Our Dog"....the comment was made there were no "Save the MIL" :p ....oops]

My thinking was folks would take the hint there was in fact Dogs on Premise.

The Fireman joked - " not even a thief wants to take on a MIL"

:D

Dogs on Premisis

Thats what my signs say. The barking will let anyone draw their own conclusion. I'm tempted to get ones I've seen that say "My dogs can make it from anywhere on this property to this fence in three seconds. Can You?"

An acquaintance of mine who worked for a sign company made up a very un-PC sign for his front lawn . . . in large letters it read "BEWARE OF DOG."

The small letters underneath read "pit bull with AIDS."

I have some, and I know of no legal problems with posting them. If your dog is one people should stay away from, by all means warn them. It won't get you off the hook in a suit, but it could be evidence of comparitive fault.

Yep, got two of those. One on each of the sides of the house. He's only a little 8 pound terrier but he will bark a lot and bite. The neighbors know him and he knows the neighbors. It's mainly to warn the gas company guy when he comes to take the gas meter measurements.

FWIW...The real problem with posting Beware of Dog signs is it tells your biggest enemy (your insurance company) that you have a dog that might bite.

Insurance companys routinely cancel Home Owners Insurance or deny coverage if you have a certian "dangerous" dog breeds, such as Pit Bulls, Doberman, German Shepherds, Akitas etc.

I had my home owners insurance renewal denied by Allstate because I had a Doberman. I had a sign posted that showed a Doberman and said "I can make it to the gate in 2.3 seconds, can YOU" that one of their claims reps saw when he checked out some damage to my house from a tree that fell on it. The reason stated on the denial was..."Dangerous Dog Breed".

I've got an adjuster coming on Monday for my Jeanne damage.
Hadn't thpught of that. I guess I'll hide him in of of the unaffected rooms

I to would like to get a Beware of Owner sign. My Cockers would tear them a new one if they tried to hurt me or my son. I to carry a gun and they are my first line of defence. I know they are not big dogs but they sure have alot of fight in them.

I have a Beware Of Dog sign on my gate and a smaller sticker on the Bat window.

And I have an ill-tempered 90lb Black Lab to back the sign up!

I put them up as fair warning. If someone isn't let into my house by my wife or I the dog is gonna mess them up. They were warned and they didn't listen

Have a sign and a dog.

The dog doesn't have to be a killer. I have a Choc. lab and she has a great grow and bark when she hears something near the house. She'll be your best friend for a cookie but they won't come close if they hear that growl and bark. This way I have an early warning system, a deterent for the BG's, a great hunting companion, and I don't have to worry about her eating a neighborhood child and getting sued.

I have a Newfoundland and a Great Dane, neither one of which anyone needs to beware of unless they enter the house unannounced. I'm currently looking into obtaining a Concealed Dog Permit.

security

When the guy across the street changed security services, I received his old security service signs which proudly stand next to my rear and front doors.

Remember, most non professional burglaries are done by truant males of junior and senior high school age.

I have a huge chain and BIG dogfood dish in front and behind my place.

It's for my "dog". :D

How are you going to hide the newf? (I've got three of them)

Or were you thinking of getting one of those little yappy things. That way when the goblin is staring wide eyed at the bear with a tail you can toss the yappy thing at him :D .

Used to.
No more.
The sign is a liability. I'd rather express innocence at a dismembering in my backyard that have to say, gee I told you.
The sign I like best I picked up in Germany and says (next to the space reserved for a breeds picture)
VORSICHT (Careful)
Loose dog.
When dog comes lie down on the ground and wait for help.
When no help comes, Good Luck.

I have a "Beware of Dog" sign to keep meter readers and such out of the back yard because they never shut the gate properly and create a situation where one of my dogs could get out and maybe get hit by a car or something.

As for warning people to stay away from my property, the dogs announce their presence if anyone gets within 50 feet of the house so a sign isn't necessary :p
