Do you have guns for which you have no ammo?

Yea, for the all calibers I own (besides some .38/357): .22lr, 9mm, .223, .308... It sucks. The only ammo I have for the rifles is premium hunting ammo. ~50rds of each. I have like 150rds of .22 left over from some camping/shooting weekend. And the only ammo I have for the 9mm is what i have in the mags. 2 17 rounders and 2 12's. Like i said, IT SUCKS. I hope this is over soon.

I live like 3 minutes from a super walmart and shop there weekly and always make a trip to the outdoors section only to be disappointed.

Do you own firearms for which you have no ammo? I don't necessarily mean that you are temporarily out because of the shortages, but guns that you just don't ever stock ammo for.

I have noticed that as I accumulate more firearms in various calibers I simply don't keep ammo on hand for all of them. For example I have a trapdoor springfield that I have never gotten around to shooting and therefore never bought any .45-70. I also have a M44 and a Rem 788 in 6mm Remington that I got a great deal on, but I haven't shot either and really haven't felt it necessary to go buy any 7.62x54 or 6mm Rem. This is unusual for me because normally as soon as I get a new gun I will go get a good stock of ammo and shoot it within a month.

Just wondering if I am unusual or if other THR members have the same situation.
NOPE!

I have ammo for every gun I own. I have exactly 8 rounds for my 30-40 Krag which were left by my dad along with the rifle. Damn, he was one heck of a rifle shooter.
I also have ammo for guns I no longer have. I also have holsters and mags for guns I might buy at some point.

Just one

I have ammo for every gun that I own except for one. That one is a 7.62 Nagant Model 1895. Due to the cost of that ammo I shoot 32 Longs in it.I know, there are those that say to always use the correct ammo. I have no interest at all in paying the high price for something I have zero desire to shoot.I do have several boxes of 32 Long Colts in case I get an overpowering desire to shoot that 7 shooter.

I have no 6.8SPC for my new Ruger Ranch Rifle. Hopefully SSA will ship my order soon.

I no longer have a 30-06 (it was a Savage 110), but somehow I have 10 rounds of M2AP in an enbloc clip for a Garand I never had.

I like having a couple years worth of ammunition for each firearm I have. Of course at this point my collection is only full of newer, fully-functioning firearms that I like to shoot.

I only go shooting (on average) about four times a year, so I only need a few thousand rounds on hand for each firearm. Plus, I have standardized on only three types of ammunition, so it is easier to stay stocked and buy in bulk.

When my father passes away I am sure I will get some of his firearms, and I know that he has some more eclectic firearms that he has acquired and some that were passed on to him from his father. A bolt-action 16-gauge shotgun comes immediately to mind. I can also think of a revolver he has that has some mechanical issues. I wonder if I'll be comfortable shooting that without getting it looked at.

I know at that day I will be torn between selling some of the firearms that I probably wouldn't shoot and not being able to part with something my father owned. My guess is that I'll not be able to sell any of them, and at that time I will probably be more likely to find myself with no ammo for some of my guns (with no real plans to buy some ammo for them).

Little (less than a token 20 rounds) or none...

For the following if I remember correctly. In some cases I have no real intention of going out of my way to get any but will buy it if available and (to me) reasonably priced- and others are just really low priorities but I like the guns.

.32 S&W
.38 Auto Colt
.32 S&W Long
.45 AR
.303
7.62X54
30-40 Krag
7.62 Mak

Then there's the ammo with no gun... yet.
.22 WRF
Pin fire shotgun
.455 Webley
.50 BMG
16 Gauge
.45 Long Colt

I'm sure there's a bunch else I'm forgetting. I'm a mess when it comes to fuel for the tool and tool for the fuel around here. I hate to ever give up on ammo just 'cause I don't currently have a shooter for it and like-wise with the ammoless shooters.

Have a Double Barrel hammer shotgun in 20ga. Damascus barrels that shoots black powder loads. Leans against the wall in my knife shop.

Yes

8mm Mauser
5.45x39, only there cause the gun is new and cant find ammo.
What ever rifle round my German Drilling gun shoots and 16Ga
.410

Until last week 7.5 Swiss and 7.5 French where on the list only have 100 rds of swiss and 40 rds of french

.32-20 for my old S&W Hand Ejector. When my gun store has it, it's ridiculously expensive. I do have an old Lyman hand-loader for .32-20 just haven't gotten around to using it yet.

I have a Nambu Type 14 in great shape. Haven't acquired any 8x22mm ammo for it as of yet. I've found it for sale online, just haven't had the money for that kind of fun.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I too have a few different calibers of ammo in the safe which I do not own the firearms for... yet

I have a couple of boxes of vintage .284 Winchester that I was given, they will probably be collecting dust for another 30 years or so.

No I have just the opposite situation; I have ammo but no guns for several calibers. Still have a couple of boxes of .30 Carbine, .32ACP, and .38S&W and nothing to run them through. Someday I will have to get another M1 Carbine, Manurhin PP, and a Webley Mk. VI to put that ammo to good use.

No, but I have ammo for guns I do not own or don't own any more.

Same.

Although I sold most of it recently to take advantage of the market conditions. I won't ever "sell out" of a cartridge once I have some, though. Gotta keep at least 20-50, sometimes more, depending on the cartridge.

Just my nagant revolver... I had some ammo, but shot it all up. The gun didn't shoot very well (minute of can at 10 yards on a good day). Maybe someday I can load up some s&w 32 longs with oversized cast lead bullets or something (I think the bore is too large, but id have to slug it to see). I probably won't be purchasing any more ammo for it.

Until recently. I have an early Model 4 Remington Rolling Block originally chambered for .32 rimfire. Aside from some scarce recent Brazilian-made ammo imported by Navy Arms (I couldn't find any), I'm told this rifle has been an obsolete wall hanger since WWII. I took it to my local smith and had the firing pin moved (to centerfire), now it happily shoots .32 shorts! Welcome back! When I have more time I'll post pics.
