I had what I *think* was a gun once.... but it was stolen.:D

Personally..... I am very wary of ANYONE asking my age, how many guns or or if they were illegal where I reside. It may just be the atmosphere lately, but a little information can be a very dangerous thing.

I am am sitting right at 22 guns which is low if you ask me. My goal is to always own at least as many guns as years I have been on this earth so I have 7 guns to go to catch up this year with my age.

The question doesn't bother me any. Folks ask me that often and I'm doing nothing illegal so I don't mind answering. I own quite a few and intend to add to the collection every time I can afford it. I started shooting as a kid, I'll be turning 44 this weekend. You can't help but pick up a few over the years.

None. :(

I think the largest segment of the membership that do not own guns are underage and WANT guns. I think this would be a more relevant question. I know when I was underaged, I wanted them.

Well I'm not in that category. I'm "overage", legal and want to own, but I don't live on my own yet. :(

I'm not sure how many guns I own but I have two safes that are full so the last few I bought I had to hide around the house.

I feel sorry for you young guys today. I'm over 65 and when I was young I could buy anything I wanted. I bought my first handguns second hand at about 11 years old. I bought a WW2 P38 w/holster and a 22 cal colt woodsman. paid $10.00 for the pair. At 12 I bought a new Ruger 44 mag from a general store by myself (no parents involved). By the time I was 15 I had bought and sold 10 to 15 rifles and pistols. I lived in the country and no one said anything about me open carrying a pistol most of the time. Of course, those were the days when you could climb on a school bus carrying a shotgun and take it to school. We did have to put them in the corner of the principals office during school but then we picked them up after school and went hunting.

Life was good.

You need to define the question better. Is it..

the extra ones upstairs in the closet?

the ones hidden around the house?

the ones on lay-away?

or what I'm carrying?

Aren't guns those scary, evil things that go boom? What are you fanatics doing with those?

Okay...okay. Turn off the bright lights. I admit it. I am in the more-than-one category. But I couldn't help it, I did not know what I was doing, and I won't know what I am doing the next time (ooops!). I couldn't help myself. The devil made me do it!

For the information you desire...

Wouldn't you have done better by asking how many people on this forum DON"T own a gun?

Not as many as I would like. But more than my wife thinks I should have.
Probably in the mid 60's. Haven't taken an accurate count since the last few purchases.
I also don't see why answering should be a problem. A bad guy does not want to come to my house looking. If I'm at home there is always a gun withing reach. If I am not at home I have 2 very large heavy safes that are bolted to the foundation. They would have to come with forklifts to get them.

Not to be rude, but why do some of you feel so uncomfortable discussing how many guns you own, but you have no problem contributing to a gun forum?

Since when is asking how many guns you own (on a gun forum) a personal question? Isn't that why we are all here, to talk about guns and gun related issues?

Like I said, I don't mean to ruffle feathers, just curious.

Some of us, including me, have a healthy distrust of people who are looking for that sort of information.

What is in the back of my mind is that the number will be added into a government database "for future reference"!!!!

What we have seen, even now that is supposedly illegal, is the government actually going door to door confiscating guns. The fact it's now illegal for them to do that is no guarentee that they will refrain from the practice!!! I would just like to keep them guessing, at least, a little bit. ;)
