After 10 yrs of marriage, my wife doesn't want to hear it anymore. So since it's just us and the dog, My lab knows more about guns and ammo, then most people do. She says you go to sleep telling me about some new gun you saw, and you talk about them all day. "she exaggerates" but isn't interested. That's what I have you guys for. Do you think I should have her checked by a medical doctor. Obviouslly there is something wrong with someone who isn't interested in looking at the "Wilson Combats home page". I am at my whits end, I am ready to call DR phil.

Well Gym, maybe you need to find some friends to share it with. I think she should be open to listening, but not if it's all the time. If she's honestly not interested, she'd just be faking it for your sake anyway.

That's why I come to the forums...aside from when I'm at the range, I dont have anyone to talk guns with.

Is there some interest that both of you share together?

ME: "I'm shooting a two day match next weekend and will be home late Sunday night."

WIFE: "Be quiet when you get in."

Nope. She collects Berettas, so the only time she gripes is when I want to go to a show to look and we don't have money if she finds a Beretta she doesn't have yet.

Yes she comlains everytime I buy something new. You would think she would give up after all these years of seeing that I don't listen and still buy what I want.
My answer to her is always the same: You don't have to work, You drive a new car, you live in a nice home and I don't remember you ever having to go hungry because of anything I bought. She usually gets pretty quiet after that.

My wife grew up wioth Guns, but never wanted to go shooting with me for awhile.....Come to find out the reason was because, they were MY guns. So I went out and bought her a Charter Arms .38 SPC, then I inherited an Browning A5, Ruger Mini-14, and a muzzleloader. I decided to "give" her the Mini-14, I own it, but it's "Hers". So now it's the mater of finding a nice range to goto together. Maybe you should get her her own gun. just pick something up, and if she doesn't like it, then to the gun store you two shall go.

My wife's eyes glaze over when I start telling her about the new charging handle I bought for my AR. She tries to pay attention, or at least pretends to try, but her heart just isn't in it.

On the other hand, She talks to me about her job about 10 times more than I talk to her about guns. Not that I mind; most of the time I am at least a little interested. Or at least I pretend to be.

As far as reading gun forums and blogs all day, she rarely says a word about it.

Yesterday when I came back from the gun show, after I did some quick research on a shotgun I saw there, I made a frustrated groan out loud. She asked what was the matter and I told her I thought $270 was a good deal for a near-pristine Winchester 1300 Defender, and I didn't want to pass it up.

She said, "That's not that much money. Go buy it." Good thing I had them stamp my hand when I left the gun show. And good thing it was still there.

Ah, I love my wife. :D

No. My wife actually has me pause the DVR to get a better look at the movie guns. She actually enjoys watching Top-Shot. She is the one that suggested that we go through dry-runs in clearing the house.

It wasn't always that way but in the last year or so, she has become a convert.

We have sort of an arrangement by which I stay out of her closet and she does not have the combination to the gun safe. Actually the only time she complained about my guns was once when I sold two pumps to buy a new O/U and she said she wished she could do that. I told her that if she would buy guns instead of clothes, she could.

absolutely not, she does not make the money so she does not tell me how to spend it. she is not interested in guns so i dont bother her by talking about guns all the time, we have other things in common, that's why we're married

Well, I don't have a wife and the cat really doesn't say much, I buy what I want. I'll tell you this though, people who are around me all day get tired of all the gun talk. The guys I work with wouldn't know which end to hang on to so I try to keep my gun stuff to myself. It really is an obsession...

this is how mine is at the range when i get a new gun

wife- is that a new gun
me- no have had it for years
wife- i havent seen it, how many guns do you have?
me- we didnt bring it the last time and i dont know
wife- hmmm you need new shoes
me- bass pro is having a sale we can go next weekend

this will only work for another year i think cause i think she is catching on after 4 years and i have to buy a new safe soon

gym: How did you know?

Answer D: All of the above.

To counter my comments about a WW2 rifle, my wife starts telling about the movie theater's live opera broadcast from the Met, and the romantic disaster which befell Giuseppi or Lucia.

My wife is just glad I have a hobby that doesn't include drinking and chasing women. That hobby didn't work out so well our first year together.
