Dream rifle if you had an unlimited budget?

I can think of several: A Ti-framed, 45 Colt 1860 Henry to allow me to shoot my 45/70 duplication load that I worked up in a Redhawk, or the same thing in 50AE.

A SOCOM in 358 Winchester.

A shorty Garand in 35 Whelen.

And probably the impossible one...an MOA capable Mini30!

Holland & Holland in .375 H&H in an Overfinch Range Rover.

It comes with the best feature of any vehicle ever sold, a self refilling liquor cabinet!:D

Barrett M107-K1

I've entertained the idea of selling off my entire gun collection just to buy one and then start collecting guns again from the beginning using the Barrett as a starting point. I can't do it however, I just can't wrap my mind around selling all of my guns just to buy one, no matter how cool a gun it is.

A working version of the Morita rifle from Starship troopers (http://www.imfdb.org/index.php/Starship_Troopers)

The upper barrel would be .30-06, and set up so that a cartridge conversion kit could be installed easily, in the field if necessary (I'm thinking some type of magnetic tube that can be inserted into the chamber, so that it will feed a 7.62x39 cartridge)

The lower barrel would be twelve gauge.

I'm sorry, was I supposed to choose something practical?

I'd be satisfied with a suppressed, select fire, FN P90
Chris "the Kayak-Man" Johnson

I play this game often in my head.

So here's a dream I can't shake. A gun writer told about his...so it's possible!

A Thompson Center G2 chambered in 45acp with an intigrated supressor.

I think that would be all kinds of fun!

I guess I don't really care what it would be chambered for so long as it was sub sonic...so maybe one of those whisper loads...

Ok, so assuming price is no object, but that I am limited to only one rifle, here's what I'd go for:

Accuracy International AW in .260 Remington
Schmidt und Bender 4-16x50mm scope
bipod
Thunderbeast Arms titanium sound suppressor
Several magazines
hard-sided carrying case
reloading equipment for .260 Remington
components for reloading .260 Remington
knowledge on how to load for precision rifle shooting
Appropriate padded sling
Shooting mat
kifaru shooting bag
Leica laser range finder
Decent Android-based ballistics app

I can certainly dream up more expensive rifle setups, but this is one that I would actually use on a regular basis, rather than just have as an uber-expensive knick-knack.

One that I would definitely spring for if I had unlimited funds would be a Dakota model 10. It would have a color case hardened frame, lever, rings, etc. Exhibition grade English walnut, 24-26" lightweight octagon barrel and chambered in something interesting. Maybe 6.5x54MS or something similar. I'd hunt the world with it.

Into my "kit", throw in a Doug Turnbull reworked Browning 1886 into a 24" octagon .50Express with upgraded wood, engraving and his full refinish job.

I'll go to London to get fitted for a set of doubles in .303British or .275Rigby (flanged) for deer and plains game. For the big stuff, .375H&H, .450/.400 and maybe one of the big .50's.

the one and only Walther WA2000.

Since that is unavailable, an Unique Alpine with Schmidt and Bender PMII will do
PSG 1 is nice to.

greetings

Peter

One rifle......it'd have to be a a double rifle by Holland and Holland or by John Rigby.
Actually, though, with an unlimited budget, I'd buy a high end shotgun for Trap with barrels for Skeet, etc.

I thought Carl Walther still had 11 of them for sale at $75,000 each?

@ mark smith
I recently found one on e-gun in germany for only 700 €. sadly it turned out to be a bb-gun.
If you can get me the adres of the carl walther who has them for sale at 75000 and you can get the US government to agree on the "export" back to europe, i wouldn't mind paying a little finders fee too :D

If I had unlimited funds, I'd try to miracle up my granddad's Carbine he carried as a mortarman in the Pacific - even though those records are all gone, I'd give it a go.

Failing that, I'd love to have a 2 or 3 digit M1.

New build FAL re-engineered for 280 British with an 18 inch barrel, big stack of also custom 25 and 20 round mags, plus a conex full of loaded 280 British ammo. Select fire, of course.

Polish kbk wz-88 Tantal, semi-burst-auto selector. Rechambered for 5.56x45mm and MSA magazine adapter. Krebs scope rail and a Trijicon TA26SR-10.

A couple...

A Lazzeroni 2005LLR Warbird.
Or
That double Sean Connery carried in A league of extra ordinary gentlemen.
Or
A BAR (old kind or long Trac with detachable box magazine) in .270 Win
Or
Shilo Sharps Quigley in 45-110.

Boy the list could go on.

I wouldn't mind making a drilling with 12ga and .270 or .30-06.

First choice: Connecticut Shotgun makes a .22LR double rifle, on a micro SxS frame (m21). They are beyond gorgeous, and START at $26,500...

On more reasonable grounds, an Anschutz 54 'Luxus' sporter would be my next choice, and a BRNO 611 is high on my list of wants as well.

A scale built double rifle in 357 mag with the barrels regulated right at 75 yds with a 180gr LRNFP. Is should weigh in right about 4.4 lbs.

I have to admit this sounds pretty cool.

Geno. Is there really:
A) an evil of firearms lust, or
B) do wives/girlfriends and guys with other interest simply have too little mental quality or capacity to appreciate them?

My vote is B, and that keeps prices from going higher.

I just cant get worked up over expensive rifles. Id say 1500 for something like a sako and 1000 or so on a scope is about all i could do...

Now a shotgun? I spent 3000 dollars on a beretta 682combo when i Grosed about 15000!!! (18 years old and in college).

If i get back into trapshooting i could easy go for a 10-15k kolar. But rifles... Just cant get as excited about them

M40A3...of course since money wouldn't probably be enough to get me one I'd have to find a retired USMC armorer to build it. Then I could let my dad do some shooting with it and see how he thinks it compares to the one they issued him in '70. Of course the A3 is like an original M40 evolved....

A bullpup stock built around a Browning BAR. It weighs 6 1/2 lb scoped with a full length over-the-barrel suppressor. It has an adjustable gas system, a nice trigger and a 13 1/2" LOP.

A 270 Win do-it-all version could be loaded down with light bullets to 6.8 velocity for practice and smaller game.

A 300 WM or 338 WM version for elk.
