My Sig 551-2 SP SWAT

It's been on my dream list to own one of these ever since I first became interested in firearms as a kid, I finally added one to my collection recently and it's everything I hoped it would be.

Toss up. Either:

1903-based custom 30-06 inherited from my grandpa.

or.

Spanish M44 that my dad gave me because "no one else wants it". I put too much money into it according to most people, but it went from missing-the-broad-side-of-the-barn-from-the-inside to 1.5 MOA with Yugo M75 surplus. Once the crown was fixed, it was a different gun. Better optics would probably get it to sub-MOA.

CZ 453 Varmint 22LR with Nikon 4x scope. Hits everything I point it at.

I like my modern guns well enough, but it's hard for me to bond with plastic. Somehow they just aren't the same as a rifle stocked with wood. Add to that the fact that I like things that have some history and I guess that right now my favorite long gun is either this 1897 Winchester Trench Gun:

Or this 1906 vintage '03 Springfield with a Philippine Ordnance Depot stamp on the stock.

All my rifles are special for one reason or another:

Colt 6920: Gift from my fiancee

Mosin-Nagant M44: my first milsurp

Nylon 66: inherited from my mother after she & Dad passed

Savage 24 .22WMR/.410: my great-grandmother had a similar gun, I wanted one ever since my dad first told me about it when I was a kid

Daisy 860 Powerline: yes, it shoots BBs & pellets, but the barrel IS rifled. I shot so many birds, pests, and targets of opportunity with that gun as a child, some of my best memories just walking through the woods with that gun.

Remington 34 NRA

More pics here.

It is interesting to see how many of these favorite guns are .22s. I feel bad for anyone who doesn't own a .22, I really do.

I had wanted one of these since they came out, so I scrimped and saved, cut corners, and eventually had the money to buy one. its loud as heck, throws giant fireballs and with the price of ammo/reloading supplies it is expensive to shoot but shooting it always puts a smile on my face. definitely not my most accurate long gun by any means, but using factory irons I can punch a baseball at 100 yds with it all day long and that's good enough for me.

I don't have a picture but its a Winchester 1886 in 45/90 built in May of 1892. It's been passed down and will go to my oldest son making him the 5th generation of ownership. It's shot and killed just about every 2 legged and large 4 legged critter on the west and east coast. Story is a brownie broke into my great grandfathers cabin up in the northern hills of California and he put 2 slugs into the bear and it crumbled. Dad can't verify it, but its been what he was told. So that's how I'm telling it.

It had a complete preservation when I was a child including having the barrel being resleeved. It has the deepest blue I have ever seen. My father and I sent it off to Macon Gun stocks and had a very nice piece of walnut placed on it and hand checkered and hand finished.

It resides in my fathers safe until be passes then it comes to me. That's gonna be a sad day. He is in relatively poor health these days but we still get out to go shoot it from time to time. It's good for the soul.

Sorry for the sentimental nature, but that's my favorite rifle. Always will be.

Tikka T3 Stainless 6.5x55 because it is the perfect deer rifle and the most accurate hunting rifle ever. My other favorite is my FN Winchester 70 Featherweight in 308 because that is the best looking rifle I have ever seen and shoots almost as good as it looks and feels.

As posted earlier this is like say which child you like the most. Of everything I own it is extremely difficult to narrow it down to just one. However I think my favorite is the one posted by Boxhead, no it's not mine but sure would not turn it down if offered. Of what I own guess it would be M1 Garand done in commemorative model for Korean war, it is a work of art and is ear marked for my 12 yr old grandson.

Boxhead, that is a superb looking rifle. You are very lucky!

My favorite rifle is almost always the one I just bought. If I haven't bought one in a long while, then it kinda depends on what I'm shooting well at the time.

It would be easier to say what is my least favorite rifle.

Toss up, my old Remington 722 in .257 Roberts and my much newer stainless Remington M7 in .308. The 722 is the sentimental favorite, killed my first deer with it 49 years ago and was my grandpa's gun. I'll never let either go willingly. It's also the best shooter, 1/2 MOA.

My SGL-21.

I love the rest of my rifles equally, but the SGL is just a little more equal. The practicality (I bet an anti just exploded) of an intermediate cartridge for varmints and defense, inexpensive plinking ammo, minimal recoil, light weight, build quality, and unending reliability place it as number 1. It and my 870 are always at the front of the safe.
