Easy for me..

1955 vintage US Rifle Cal .30 M1. International Harvester made, with the LMR barrel.

Either my old PTR91 or a SVT 40 recently acquired.

Probably the PTR, as it is the most versatile rifle I own. With the 22lr kit installed it is great for plinking, with standard 308 handloads it is very accurate with irons, with the Hensholdt scope it is good to at least 400 yards for prairie dogs, and with the night vision, its utility is 24/7.

The SVT40 is such an elegant rifle that looking at it and holding it and field stripping it reveals such a subtle design. Really like shooting it too.

Right now I only have 2 rifles, a 91/30 Mosin and a Mle 1892 Lebel Cavalry Carbine.
Since I have been unable to find ammo for the Lebel I would have to pick the Mosin. My favorite rifle of all time would be either the M1 Garand or the M-14. Sorry I just love that love that platform. :)

For me, it's the half-stock .40cal caplock hanging above my mantle. My great,great-grandfather carried it to Illinois from Ohio on foot. Then my great grandfather carried it to Colorado and back on horseback. Several other stories associated with this rifle that I'll save for another time.

Old Betsy

My dad's old Remington 33 he called "Old Betsy" is my favorite and the one I will never part with. Every time I see it I remember the times we would go shooting out in the woods. He could outshoot me and my brothers scoped 22's every time and it brought a smile to his face. He has since passed away but he is with me every time I take it out. I have rifles worth many times that, dollar wise, but Old Betsy is priceless.

1952 Marlin 39a....my dad bought one with his first paycheck and it's the first gun I ever fired. He gave his 39a to my brother. That prompted me to search hard until I found a nice 1952 model for myself. I always described it as 'heavy in all the right places.'

Remington M91 because it is fun to shoot and is a great crowd pleaser. And for a nearly 100yr old rifle can still break clay pigeons at 100yds!

I like my modern guns well enough, but it's hard for me to bond with plastic. Somehow they just aren't the same as a rifle stocked with wood. Add to that the fact that I like things that have some history and I guess that right now my favorite long gun is either this 1897 Winchester Trench Gun:

That is one nice looking scatter gun! My dad had one years back, wish he still had it!

I don't know what I like more about a thread like this, seeing the pictures of the neat weapons, or hearing the stories associated with them. While I don't have any family heirloom type rifles, I hope to keep adding to my collection and start the tradition when I have kids (only 24, lots of time for that haha). Anyway, back on topic, my favorite is my AR. First weapon that I EVER fired was an M16 A2 in basic training at Fort Leonard Wood.

Marlin barreled Springfield Garand

Given the circumstance of my DCM purchase, my life at the time, the position of the rifle in history and the performance of this particular one... no question.
