What, as an "American" my only options are to blindly accept whatever I'm presented with or shut up and move along?

That's exactly what your options are. You can deal with it, or not deal with it. It appears you have dealt with it. I'm not too sure what the point of this post was exactly, since you have decided to deal with it?

If they must have a polymer striker fired weapon, I would prefer American made and designed-Read Smith and Wesson M & P. They are accurate, dependable and don't look like the magazine is an afterthought.They also have a natural grip angle and feel better in the hands to most people than the "Gaston Wonders". This is not my opinion but that of "Hickok 45" who is as close to being Mr Glock as any American can be.

I like how the m&p feels I the hand, but I don't care at all for the trigger. They are solid and reliable though.
