Featureless, limited capacity AR-15 vs Tactical Shotgun

Featureless AR's have a detachable magazine, every AR that I own here in CA is featureless, all have detachable mags. All have "muzzle brakes" and "pistol grips" also and they're 100% legal.
From the OP: "The one I got to hold in store the other day had fixed 10 round mag you could not even drop without opening up receiver.

Being that it's being sold in the store, it has to be that way. If he built it himself, he could make it featureless.

There are so many iterations of the AW laws in CA, many just buy what's on the shelf.

My point is is that the primary advantage of the 5.56 round over the 7.62 rounds is that the smaller round allows the individual soldier(s) to carry more ammunition which was deemed useful. If the soldier is limited to 10 rounds, that advantage is lost and so, that soldier should opt for 10 rounds of the biggest and nastiest rounds he can find. The Garand would be a fantastic solution for this soldier for more reasons than I have time to list right now. I do have time to mention the 10 round clip advantage and, as well, I do believe though I'm not certain, that Garand is never included in any proposed assault weapon bans nor is the mini-14. I'm not sure about the California state law though. I have been hemming and hawing over buying an M1 Garand for a while now and I think I'm just talking myself into buying one. I really want one.

Hanging on a wall-mounted rack next to my bed are three guns. The first one I would reach for is a 12 ga. SxS with double triggers, capable of firing both barrels at the same time. One side has a 3" OO Buck with 15 pellets. The other barrel has a 3" #4 Buck with 40 pellets. By aiming at either the neck area or the groin, the possibility of those 55 pellets to tear out a major artery or vein is fairly high.
Just above the shotgun is an AK with 40 round "banana" with mixed ammo (FMJ, JHP, & SP), and, hanging in its holster is a GP-100 in .357 with a pair of Speedloaders in reserve.
