Glock 17 or Beretta 92FS

Im surprised noone has mentioned that the mags for a glock 17 can work in a glock 19 or 26! Factory 33rnd mags are available too!

So if you plan on getting a glock 17 you have that to consider against the beretta.

Unless the berettas have hi cap mags and can intercnage mags inside a caliber family....

I dont know Im a glock owner. :D

Beretta has 20 and 30 round magazines for the 92

If it's going to be used for defense, any sort of tactical use, or if you don't plan on reselling it at any point, go with the Glock.

If it's going to be a range gun, a gun you're going to want to open carry, or something you might want to resell later, go with the Beretta.

Perhaps you missed the OP's unfortunate location?

Yes Beretta has interchangeable mags that will work within the 92 family 92F, FS, G, C, D, Ninety two, and even in a "real" Carbine - CX4.
(I say real cause its not some shell attachment to a pistol.)

I've owned a Beretta 92S and the 92FS, both great pistols to shoot. Low recoil and 15 rounders, however, I only have Glocks in 9mm now. Simple operation and consistent triggers along with the rail. Plus they shoot really good with all ammo. I carry my G17 more than any pistol I own, now.

Try them both. Beretta is a beautiful gun but the grip was far too bulky fit my average sized hands .

The solution.... However, not exactly easy to find. 92 Compact Type M

Since the OP cannot have more than 10rds might as well make it a single stack.

No one find it surprising that on many different forums, this topic has come up a lot over the past month... And in every case, the original poster doesn't ever post again in the thread they started.

I've decided to not even waste my time with a legitimate reply, as all these threads seem to do is get the anti Glock guys and anti beretta guys going for each other, typically...

My .02 is that trying to compare a Glock 17 to a Beretta M9 is somewhat of an unfair comparison.

The Glock is intended to be a relatively low cost serviceable side arm. And that it is.

A Beretta is a higher end weapon, all metal, and simply a larger, stronger firearm.

They are both, in my opinion, great pistols, that do their respective jobs well.

I own both. I shoot both. If I was forced to choose between the two, I would take the Beretta M9.

Both are good pistols but overall I prefer the Glock over the Beretta.

I don't like the slide mounted safety on the beretta with its flip-up to fire mode.
And the Beretta is just about the biggest and bulkiest 9mm on the market.

Own both and each has it's good points, for me the 92FS is more accurate, will soon be doing a $90.- trigger job on the glock and it will be interesting to see how it shoots. I do, at this time, prefer the Beretta.

Colt Commander (or copy) .45 ACP or a Ruger SR9/SR40.

For a full sized nine, Taurus PT92 or 99. Mine have had better triggers than the Beretta 92s I've shot, and have been 100% reliable and very accurate.

"nickel plated sissy gun". Typical Hollywood BS. Once again, the writers have no idea of which they speak.
The gun Robert Downey Jr had was a stainless steel Taurus PT945.
I hate Hollywood.

One thing to think about is the grip angle. The grip angle on the Beretta will be more similar to your Sig, if that matters. It just may make transitioning between guns easier.

That being said, I would go with the Gen 4 G17 because that is what I prefer and it fits my holster for the G23 I carry. And it is lighter, thinner and more simple. Easier to conceal. You will be happy with whichever you choose. Both very good guns.

+100000 to getting the Berretta 92 or M9. I have shot both and there is no comparison IMO. Glock17 is a great pistol, but the M9 that I shot was buttery smooth. DA/SA trigger, good weight, and just overall nicer than the Glock.

You would have to modify the Glock in some way to get on the level of the M9. Maybe get a trigger upgrade, etc.

Thank you

Thank you all for your opinions have been offline for a few weeks. Since the post I shot both pistols again and I decided to buy another Sig. It just felt better and I am already used to the ergonomics and functionality.

Probably the best choice you could have made! ;)
