Hello all I am new to the forums here and this is my first post.
I stumbled across this interesting thread due to the fact I just purchased my very first Semi-Auto handgun, a glorious Glock 17, and was searching for Glock related posts. Wow did I hit a treasure with thi thread. Such animosity towards Glocks is difficult to understand from a logical standpoint. I have read through all the posts in this thread and noticed that there are some here with a personal bias against Glock much like the people who hate mac computers or PCs, or import cars vs American.
Personally, I try to keep my opinions based on logic and facts, which BTW is why I chose the Glock, facts and personal experiences for me are key to making an educated and effective decision in purchasing anything I expect to meet my needs. Hopefully I have chosen wisely and I believe I have.
For me, I am happy for anyone who finds value in whatever brand of whatever they buy. It is fun and exciting to be excited about a particular manufacturer or item. However it is just as rewarding to be happy for others with their choices as well. At least for me it is. I don't unerstand biased hatred just because I may not like a brand another does. What sense does that make? I never figured that out but have seen it on every kind of forum I have ever been on. I guess it is human nature for some people.
Anyway, I have owned a .38 revolver for about 22 years and an AK47 for about 10 and this is my very irst semi-auto pistol. So despite it is a Glock for those of you who hate my choice, I am excited about it. I hope you will be happy fr me as well. I bought it brand new and picked it up this morning after my waiting period was up. I am going on Saturday for my CCW class and will apply for my carry permit soon as possible.
For anyone wondering, I chose the Glock for the following reasons and I am not young person who bought it because I saw it in a movie or any other nonsense I have read from haters.
- Reliability (I have shot many Glocks belonging to friends for years all great.)
- Ease of use (To me the two easiest shooting were a Mak 9mm and Glock)
- Weight & Durability (light weight & super durable for out in the elements use)
- Maintenance (Simple to maintain.)
- Cost (For this quality of a gun the cost is quite reasonable.)
-Appearance (Well I really didn't buy it for appearance but I happen to like it)
So my experiences with shooting my friends (some law enforcement) Glocks was always positive and I never once seen one fail or jam. I bought my AK47 for much of the same criteria and have been very happy with that for alot of years now.
Hopefully I can learn some tips from some of you Glock owners that are more relevant to facts than biased opinions on why my Glock is a cheap plastic toy and I should go home and not play with others.
Hello to everyone here.
