Been babysitting a Gen 1 G17 for a few weeks now. I've never cared too much for Glocks, mainly because of the way they point (grip angle and all). After a few hundred rounds, I figured out how to hold the thing to negate the grip angle problem and I've found that I shoot pretty good with it. I've always admired the Glock as a tool, based on it's reliability out of the box. But as a shooter, I've never been able to bring myself to seriously consider them. I just caught myself browsing Gunbroker looking for a good price on a Gen 3 G17!!! Somebody stop me!!!
 
Don't try a Glock 20-10mm, they are very addictive! You can feel the power without feeling the recoil. 21's are nice too.
 
Me too, and I swore I'd never own one. But I rented a G17 the last two times at the range.

Plus I am reading a book about how Glock became the modern combat handgun, that might push me over the edge...
 
I use to make fun of Glocks (like a lot of people) without ever having held one. The first time I got a chance to shoot one I was still snickering and ribbing the owner. After I put a clip through it and looked at the target I was eating a lot of crow, and asking for another magazine.

Been carrying a Glock ever since I began carrying concealed. I don't quite drink the Gaston kool-aid, but aside from a quality 1911 or S&W revolver, there isn't a handgun I enjoy more. Some people claim they're unsafe, even extremely hazardous but so long as you follow the four rules you have nothing to worry about. If you purchase an older used model, call the factory and make sure it's had any needed "upgrades."

Oh, and don't bother fighting the urge to lay down a couple hundred dollars on full-cap magazines. You know you want to, especially for a Glock 17. :) Check out Comp-Tac if you plan to carry your Glock. There are at least three or four more Glocks on my list, along with more nice revolvers and 1911's...maybe that new SIG 1911 when it's available.
 
I love my Gen 3 G17. It just plain works—and works well. I trust it like it were a revolver. As a Deputy Sheriff I was issued a Sig - but I wished we were issued the 17. The Sig was nice and all don't get me wrong, but I just shoot the 17 better. Wonderful combat sidearm. I personally have hi-cap's + 2's in mine. With a round in the chamber that equals 20! That's a lot of powder. Now go get one and stop considering.

They may be the sweetest thing since ice cream, but I've never handled one nor intend to.......

I've been a "Glockaholic" for about ten years now. I'll never go back to blued stel or wooden grips.

You know, I've gone back and forth on this and I'm starting to believe that I will never come back to the Dark Side - it's all because of that darn Valtro...

(sigh)

Still, my 17 is the one gun I know that would never let me down. As such, it has permanent collection status. ;)

I shot a Glock G23 for the first time last weekend. I always looked down at them, but I had never actually held or fired one. By the third magazine I was hooked. It fit my hand like it was made just for me, handled recoil well and made it look like I could actually shoot halfway decent! The one I shot was stock and the only thing that I would have changed was the sights (gone to night sights). I'm hooked!
 
what you are feeling is perfectly normal, Just give in, man does not have the will-power to resist.

Bit the bullet and purchase it, you will love the 10mm if you're into big feel and power.
 
I was the same way. Told myself I wasn't gonna do it( buy a Glock). I resisted for as long as I could and finally gave in. I shoot my G17 in IDPA and doing pretty good with it. It's an easy gun to learn to master. I still need practice with mine but I can already tell from the last match I shot that my speed is getting faster and my points are getting lower.
Just give in and save yourself the mental torture you're going thru now.
Give into the darkside my friend....:evil:

I said the same thing for many years. Now I've come to the conclusion that a painting is not the best tool to drive a nail ;)
 
I have never been able to understand why some people tend to place looks and some kind of "cool factor" above reliability and and the real issues involved in what is needed in a carry gun.

I would much rather have an "ugly" gun that works everytime over a nice polished wooden grip pistol that may not work.
 
Every time I go to the range somone is pushing me a Glock. I resisted for a while then went to the Glock forum to find out which one would best fit my needs. Then I read about the voluntary recall and more recently frame cracks. Well, I guess next time a Glock is pushed toward me I had better check the frame first.

Just kidding, I think Glocks have it going for the near-perfect pistol. Just wondering why they have a plastic shell on the mags?

Too bad they don't have ambidextrous controls (mag release).

My problem had always been the opposite. I finally figured out that I couldn't use a very high hold like I do with a 1911. Once I lowered my grip, it seemed to fit better, and my shots started coming down a bit (always shot high with them). I'm thinking of getting serious about 3 gun competition, and seriously considering the Glock 17 as opposed to my 1911 that I use for IDPA and a few 3 gun shoots. I think the extra rounds might provide an edge. I'm not scared of plastic guns like some folks. I have been an XD fan for some time, but the Glock 17 is a time tested performer where the XD, while certainly dependable, has not been put through it's paces like the Glock.
