Gun porn

Went shooting yesterday after working on my Uberti Russian a bit. Still have to lighten up the spring some, but MUCH better than it was out of the box. All shots fired were from 20 yds +-. As a reward to me and my new gun, I dressed up the grips a bit with a couple of early 1900's U.S. quarters.

IMG_0516.JPG IMG_0515.JPG IMG_0514.JPG Original Colt 3rd Model Dragoon. Been in the family since the civil war. Great great grandfather carried it in the war. All matching numbers #19411. Still functions perfectly. No idea of the value really. But it's also never leaving the family so it doesn't really matter.

I don't know if it qualifies as "Gun Porn". Depends if you're into old, heavy girls.

That's not porn, that's a vintage work of art! If it wasn't a family heirloom it would be right at home in a firearms museum. Thanks for sharing that wonderful piece of history with us.

Definitely gun porn!

Im glad you all like it. Occasionally I get into the safe and pull it out. And I really can't do much more than just stare at it and think about everything that gun saw. And holding it, you can really feel like you're holding something....I guess it would be "historical". But it's more than that. It's not just Civil War history, but family history as well. It's somewhat overwhelming to hold that gun.

Not just historical but maybe a little magical as well, like you get transported back in time whenever you have the gun in your hands. Fantastic family heirloom!

Any idea on the value of this one?....I want to shoot it and not just admire it. I think Uberti parts were used in it.

Not sure about the high standard, I'm pretty sure it's the same parts compatibility as uberti/navy arms. Mine were ubertis that were rough and fired pretty regularly and I still got 400 for the pair when I sold them.

9th edition Blue Book says one in 100% condition is worth $550 for just the pistol. Add $165 if you have the pine presentation case with brass belt plate. They were made by High Standard in their Hamden, CT plant in1974 utilizing High Standard frames with the remaining parts made by Uberti.
