My first post shouldn't be to bash a company like this but I really feel like it needs to be done, as enough time has passed for someone at GunVault to give a dang.

I bought 2 GunVault Biometric gun safes. Wow! What pieces of junk. After 6 months of opening them about twice a week for practice, cleaning, matches, they are both broken.

GunVault will not respond to communication left via their contact forms, will not return messages left with Tech Support and customer service, will not answer their phones. I have tried for weeks to get someone other than reception to speak to me to no avail.

My advice is to steer clear of these safes for no other reason than if something DOES happen, too bad for you. At $300+ a pop, it's a mistake I shall never make again.

welcome to the forum.

7/10 for the rant.

sorry to hear about your problems. go back to where you bought them and talk to them.

if the people at the local store you bought it from don't help..

call the "Buyer" (job title) at the corporate office... tell him/her you are happy to send him/her an email explaining that if the this is the type of quality carried in their stores, you will no longer be a customer.. give him something to fwd to the sales person at GunVault.

if the "buyer" won't help.... get a hold of the "VP of merchandizing"...

gunvault

As I recall the original gunvault went out of business. Their assets were purchased by Cannon safe. Cannon has always been very responsive to problems. Contact Cannon safe thru their website or 800 number

I had a standard gun vault safe for years from 1998- 2001 in my truck and loved it. It was quick and reliable. I sold that safe with my last truck and if I would have kept the safe my pistol would not have been stolen out of it. I recommend them any chance I get, because there are no better safe for the price with that kind of quick accesiblity. I have no idea on the biometric stuff sounds like they are still working out the bugs. Request a refund and get a standard safe or a discount + refund.

The Beretta Forum has the president of the company as a member. I don't know if he's been active in the past couple of months.

But, try searching for "gun vault" on that forum, and I'll bet U can find his ID in 1 of the threads there.

I have the regular gun vault (non bio, push button). I have opened it 2-3 times a day every day for a year and it has never failed. Haven't had to change the batteries yet either. As for you trying to contact GunVault try xcop's idea.

It's not the $300 safe. It's the $300 safe, with biometrics. You got suckered in, if you want something electronic go with a keypad. Not to mention anything that checks your fingerprint can be defeated in five minutes.

Biometrics? Not sure I even know what that is.

We got a Browning gunsafe with a plain spin combination lock. Never had a lick of trouble out of it whatsoever.

Getting time to get another, larger safe. I'm liking the looks of the Redhead line at Bass Pro Shops. I like their fire ratings especially.

update.

It looks like a serious defect in the Biometric GunVault. The cable runs on the inside edge of the clamp on the spindle and the edge will eventually cut the cable after repeated use.

I used many strands of thin copper wire and twisted it together to make a relatively thick piece and cinched it on the motor side and looped it around the rod that activated the release mechnism (black rod). Then I soldered it all to hold it tight.

As it is it works great

I have talked to the Cannon guy, THEY answer the phone, or it defaults to them when the other guys are busy doing nothing at GV. He was nice enough, but said they do not service the bio model and gave me "Chris's" number, which was not answered.

I'll continue to call them until they do something about their weak azz product.

I've contact GunVault via email and they've answered me right away.

Maybe during the time you contacted them was their "busy month". Hopefully this Chris guy can help. What did the store that you bought the safe from say? Or did you order it through GV?

I own the miniVault that holds two handguns and they work like a charm; quick access and easy storage. The downfall/con is that the safe isn't fireproof.

i got it through midwayusa. i've tried email, their contact form, as well as the phone. i can reach reception fine, who then send me to tech support where the phone rings and either the box vm box is full, or i can leave a message that is never returned, or they transfer me to cannon safe who then transfers me back to tech support. it's so awesome, especially when the problem is on their FAQ page, since it clearly happens all the time and these things should be recalled, and says call tech support, who never answers.

who does business like that?
