I was watchin' the Thanksgiving Bond-ahon on SPIKE and was thinking about all the movies and TV shows I watched over the years that influenced my selection of firearms in my collection. For example, the Walther PPK Bond carrys...in my collection. The AR-7 he uses to bring down the helicopter in From Russia with Love...got it. So, I thought it would be interesting to hear from the rest of the forum on what firearm in your collection was added because you seen it in a movie or TV show. From my first six gun rig as a kid after seeing Roy Rogers to my first Dirty Harry 44 mag...I must admit movies and tv shaped my tastes. How about you !?

NRA "Reel Guns"

In regards to the Movie / TV thread...Has anyone been to the NRA HQ in Virginia lately? I was there last summer while on a trip to my HQ at Fort Belvior and they had a great display of firearms from the movies and tv entitled "Reel Guns". I really enjoyed looking at the 45 firearms from the "Wild Bunch", the sawed off lever action rifle from "Wanted: Dead or Alive ", Dirty Harrys magnum and the like...I wonder if that was a permanent exhibit. :scrutiny:

Never bought a gun because of a movie, however, I'd like to have a Sharps from watching Quigley Down Under. :)

The M41A1 Pulse Rifle with 12mm high explosive caseless projectiles and an automatic grenade launcher.

On the more realistic side I would have to say the good ole' M1 Garand. I just love a good movie with the Garand and if they capture the PING it is all good.

Watching the animé Gunsmith Cats got me started on CZ pistols. Since then, I have come to appreciate CZs as perhaps the best kept secret in the firearms industry.

Miami Vice got me hooked on the Bren Ten. 16 years later I finally got one, and it's been the pride and joy of my collection ever since. It gets a LOT of looks at the range, and is a helluva shooter.

I kinda like the Flame Gun from Logans Run. But I can't find a working model to save my life.

10mm pulse rifle, and the grenade launcher is pump action. The props were built off of a Tommy gun with an 870 mated underneath and then the plastic cosmetics.
Lt., what do those pulse rifles fire? 10mm explosive tipped caseless, standard light armor piercing round, why?

Maltese Falcon

The .38 ACP Webley Fosberry. Always wanted one for coolness factor. I'd even settle for the .455 Eley version.

Watching Band of Brothers was what finally moved me to buy the M1 Garand I've been wanting for a long time. (Thank you, CMP!)

Now, there are a lot of firearms I'd like to have, but cost is an issue . . . like the Shiloh Sharps used by Tom Selleck in Quigley Down Under. (I wouldn't be happy with the imported knock-offs . . . heck, they don't even have the tang sight!)

Then there are the ones that are just theoretical possibilities . . .

I like the FN P90's in the Stargate TV show. (Though the actors usually are looking over the optical sight, rather than through it. )

The rotating-drum 40mm grenade launcher in The Dogs of War was neat, but expensive to own. ("Destructive Device" licensing for the gun, plus, AFAIK, each individual round is itself a DD.)

The .600 Nitro used in one of the Spielberg dinosaur movies would be fun . . . but IIRC they cost $10k+ . . . ouch!

All these exist . . . I won't even get into the sci-fi ray guns . . .

Somewhere on my list will be a chromed/steel Glock. Bad Boys II made them look real nice, and I know they're out there but I don't have the dough right at the moment.

How about Sean Connery in Outland. I think he was carrying a pistol gripped Rem 1100 12 ga with a 12-14" barrel. Sweet!! I guess NFA rules dont apply to outer space!! :)

I'll take the Noisy Cricket from MIB. :D

Small enough to carry in your pocket.
Powerfull enough to blow a five foot hole in a truck.

Not to mention some serious recoil. :neener:

Following Remington788's lead, I opt for the hand phaser from Star Trek. You can stun, kill, roast, blast and saute'.........and talk about concealed!!! :D

And there are days up here in the frozen north that the ability to heat rocks to keep yourself warm would come in handy

Real movie guns I'd like to own:
1) Shiloh Sharps from "Quigley Down Under"
2) M1 Garand (Due to Band of Brothers mostly)
3) Brace of 1858 Remington cap & ball revolvers with extra cylinders (High Planes Drifter)

Future movie guns:
1) "Aliens" Space Marine Rifle with grenade launcher, they were wicked.
2) "Aliens" Squad Support Weapon, that steady cam mount was waaay too cool!!
3) Star Trek original series Phasers, both the full size and the little detachable palm unit.
4) Han Solo style blaster from the Star Wars movies.

Non Firearm:
Lightsabers are the COOLEST WEAPON EVER!!

.30cal handheld gattling/chain gun(old painless) carried by Jessie Ventura in the original Predator. Same gun used by Arnold in Terminator 2.

THUMPER'S QUIZ

Vasily's sniper rifle "Enemy at the Gates "

GE Chain Gun ( Ole Painless ) "Predator" and "Terminator II"

P-38 "Manchurin Candidate"

Blaster "Star Wars"

How'd I do !?

How about that van mounted piece Bruce Willis used in The Jackal?

No, actually I would have to go along with the Garand from the Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers group.

Mine's a Winchester from May of 1942, if I remember correctly.

44 Mag. from Dirty Harry

Got one in 4-1/2" and love it. Would like to have a 1875 model 3 Schofield as seen in several movies. Would also like any 9mm Luger. Both classic looking guns in my humble opinion.
