I was searching the internet for info on the AR-17 and a thread from here came up.
Really an enjoyable site and lots of nice people. Can't wait for winter to snuggle up and spend a bit more time here.

I found and lurked at TFL about 3 days before it closed. I came here shortly afterwards but only lurked for about 6 months. Then I registered and here I am.

I share your observations regarding political discussion. In my teens and eary 20's I was a long haired, hippy freak (saw Hendrix, Beatles, etc. in concert) and was very active in the anti-war (Viet Nam) movement.
Then I grew up, married, had children and settled into a Corporate World that changed my perspective on a lot of things. Reality replaced idealism and I went along to get along...at first. My late 30's enabled a step back and view my version of the Big Picture..which consolidated many beliefs.
I was lucky enough to retire at 50 (wife as well) and find myself finally admitting to being an Independent. And it's great..as is intelligent political discussion! The ONLY difference, IMO, between Dems and 'Pubs is how they get your money!

Used to lurk over at Shooters.com..... it shut down... I typed in "gun forums" at google and this place came up on the the first page. After lurking for a few days I decided to not make the same mistake I did at Shooters.com ( never registered, never posted.) The next thing I know I'm posting once in a while. It was kind'a like that old Huey Lewis song, I want a new drug

I was looking for information / debate about RKBA issues (having undergone a sudden conversion from anti to pro). I followed a link to Oleg's site (from the homepage of a player on a MUD I used to frequent who I knew was pro-RKBA), and from there to here.

The gal at the gun store where I bought my KAHR P9 mentioned a great site on the web that use to be called "This"..but now known as "That".
I forgot everything she'd told me before I reachrd the front door..departing hastily for the range (closer than the ranch) to consumate my new relationship.
That satisfied, I started looking around the web and found a site from a guy on the Morning Star discussion boards that led me here..my new best friend!

My good friend and shooting buddy, Byron, turned me onto TFL. When it went down he told me about THR. Most here who know me know that I lurk a LOT and only add what little I can to a discussion when no one reads my mind. Jeez, this tinfoil hat thing isn't working too well

Tam told me after TFL phased out.
I can't remember how I found this site. I think I was searching for gun forums and came across this one and liked it. I registered last year but my account didn't get activated so I couldn't post. I have just been reading for a long time now and I finally reregistered a few days ago.
