I moved over when TFL closed, but was more active on Berettaforum & the ipsc global village. When political/ religious/ sexual attacks was banned/heavily moderated I saw that the signal to noise ratio in my area of interest (gun rights discussion) was vastly improved so I became a more regular visitor.
The vast majority of my postings are in the S&W DOB thread and in related threads in the firearms research sub forum. The majority of my personal reading / learning is in the legal and activism sub forums.
I guess I hang around because THR is heavily moderated and civil discourse is required. The service I offer in the DOB thread helps to draw new or occasional shooters into our wider community. The requirement for civil discourse means those new members don't get driven off. This suits me well.
Because it is a civil community, when I need to ask a question myself I can generally expect well thought out replies with a minimum of off topic replies, thread drift or personal insults.
I've seen upheaval at Glocktalk, TFL, Berettaforum, Canadiangunutz, Brian Enos forums & the Global Village when the basic requirement that people be civil to each other was ignored, often with senior posters being banned or quitting, to the detriment of all.
THR isn't perfect, but it does a pretty good job of maintaining 'the high road'. While it does and while I have something to contribute I will stick around.
