In your EDC loadout, how many rounds of ammunition do you carry total, and of what type? Include the chambered round, the magazine in the gun (or cylinder) and all extra ammo.

"EDC"? I think that's Every Day Carry?
If so....
21 rounds. 10+1 .45 acp in the gun, 10 in the spare mag.
If I venture from town, I carry another mag, making for 31 rounds. If I carry my Security six, I carry it with 6, plus 2 speedloaders (18 rounds). Need to buy some speedstrips for it.

three 15 round mags in the weapon and on me. Two 29 round mags in the bag next to me. 150 rounds of pistol ammo and four extra boxes of shotgun ammo in the trunk bag

I pretty much carry a S&W 340PD these days, usually with one speed strip. so 10 rounds.

I am a civilian CCW in either upper class or rural neighborhoods.

16 rounds. Kahr K9: 7+1 in gun and 8rd spare mag. I feel confident in this amount of ammo as a CCW holder. Right now all rounds are Speer 115gr gold dot. Probably gonna change to 124gr +P soon.

32 total, 40 if I'm in my car. 7+1 in Springfield 1911, 3 8-round spare mags, all with Ranger Talons. If I'm in my car, I keep another 8-round mag of hardball in the glovebox.

When I carry my...

USP40c - 2 x 10 round mags (one mag in gun, one in mag pouch) of 180gr Remington Golden Sabers. I would love to get my hands on a couple of standard capacity, 12 round mags. (Damn AWB!)

1911 - 3 x 8 round mags (one in gun, two in a pouch) of 230gr Remington Golden Sabers. Sometimes I'll just carry one spare mag though.

I feel very comfortable with those loadouts, and will probably never need more than that if a self-defense situation were to arrise. If I need any more ammo after using what I carry, the proverbial S has really HTF and I will be praying that the cavalry arrives directly.

:uhoh:

10.

5 in the gun(sp101), and 5 on a speed strip, all are handloaded 158 gold dots that do 1300 out of my gun. If I ever need more than that, I'll wish I had my rifle instead.

Notice, he only asked how many, not why. Lets not get into the "what if 4 guys jump you at once" discussion with those of us that feel 10 rounds is plenty. Because then it seems to get uncivil in a hurry.

What you carry was chosen based on your personal percieved needs, not someone elses. Lets leave it at that.

One 15 round Mag for a Beretta 92FS. I figure once the lead starts flying
your criminal types aren't going to get into a long, dragged out battle. Most
criminals want an easy target. I've always thought that if I couldn't hit
what I was aiming at with 15 rounds I shouldn't be carrying my side arm
in the first place:)
Looking at the above....... I might be out gunned:eek:

It depends on the weather and my mood, but one thing stays the same: the primary magazine is loaded with hollowpoints. The backups may or may not be.

I frequently wonder what quantity of ammunition would leave me wary. It fluctuates a bit, but 7 rounds feels insufficient. So, if I have a revolver or a micro-gun, I would always carry at least one reload. I feel quite confident with 12 rounds. At the other end of the spectrum, I never have more than 48 rounds on my person. That leaves me enough ammo to spray the walls, streets and sidewalks and still hit the target 3 times... just like the NYC police do it.

Now, if I'm going to the range I have enough ammo on me to be killed instantly by any force large enough to require me to use it.

With warmer weather upon us, I have taken to carrying my Kimber Ultra Carry most of the time. 2 spare mags. All 7 round mags.

My preferred weapon is a Para Doublestack. I usually only carry one spare mag for it.

Kinda depends, you know. ;)

Smoke

Hardball

22: 7+1 in the gun and 14 in the spare mags. All the rounds are Federal American Eagle FMJ 230 gr. Right now I'm happy with hardaball so don't bring the "overpenetration" and "energy transfer" issues. BTW, "they all fall to harball" is another myth; they all fall to well placed shots.

11 rounds of .40

10 in mag, one in chamber.

I don't like carrying a spare mag in my pocket and I haven't got an IWB mag pouch.

Depending on the auto loader I carry,
A full magazine in the gun, one in the chamber with a spare mag in my pocket.

A wheel gun gets the full 6 plus a speedloader.

I don't plan on running into a small army detachment from South America where any more is needed.

My two main carry pistols are my Steyr S40 and M40. I keep the S40 on me, that is 10+1 then I usually carry one extra 10 round mag as well. The M40 is left in the car It has 10+1 and 2 other mags with 10 rounds. I chose these two guns because the mags are interchangeable. If I ever run out of ammo and I am close to the car I can switch to my full size .40 or I can reload the EDC gun with the full size mags.

I chose these two guns because the mags are interchangeable.

Well ... kinda ... you can use the M's mags in the S but not the other way around (unless you're much stronger then I) :neener:

Depends on what I'm carrying.

G19 has 15+1 along with a 15 round mag riding shotgun. Black Hills 124gr +P Gold Dot JHP rounds.

Kimber Pro Carry has 8+1 and 2 each 8 round mags for back up. Speer Gold Dot 200gr +P JHP rounds.

S&W 1006 has 9+1 and 2 each 9 round mags. Winchester 175gr Silvertip JHP

Browning Hi Power has 15+1 and 2 15 round mags for back up. Black Hills 124gr +P Gold Dot JHP.

Hmmm, looks like Im partial to the Gold Dot JHP bullet. Wonder why;)

Most of the time, its 17+1 and a spare 17 (9x19), and either 8x.32acp or 5x.38spl in the backup. As soon as I have the proper pouches, I'll go to two spare 17s and a G26 as a backup. The more I train, the more I am biased in favor of full-size guns and backups of the same caliber.
