I keep enough ammo on hand to last me till the next gunshow. That means about 2,000 rds for about 4 months. I use it all up for the most part. After taking my friends shooting and takeing shooting classes the ammo goes by fast in.
Did any of you ever see the email in circulation about a 70 or 80 year old American man being harassed by a French customs agent in the Paris airport? He got to the counter and didn't have his passport ready and the agent rudely asked him if he had ever been to France before. The old American said yes he had. The agent then said then he should know that he would have to show his passport. He replied that when he landed on the beach there were no French around to check for his passport. The French will disrespect America every chance they get. We should have put up the American flag at the top of the Eifel tower and declared France an American state.
Did any of you see the televised movie that starred Tom Selleck as Eisenhower? That was a real eye opener as to the French attitude towards us.
Right now 500 rounds each of .38 spl and 9mm. But I would rather have about 1000 rounds each. It is getting expensive so I would like more just as a means of keeping the cost down.
A rough estimate puts me at nearly 5,000 rounds of centerfire ammo with a close to three to one ratio in favor of rifle ammo. I hadn't realized I had quite that much.
I tend to pick up ammo as opportunity arises. Particularly good deals or as a sweetener to another online deal also figure in. Right now I'm most interested in increasing ammo reserves for my semi-auto carbines. Mainly because they can use it faster!
All-in-all, I have barely enough ammo to start a revolution, but not nearly enough to finish one.
Lessee, I am thinking I have about 700 rounds of 7.62 x 39, 60 rounds of 76.2 x54r, 80 rounds of .380, 50 rounds of .22 mag, and about 800 rounds of .22. And I have one round with a swastika on it that I think must be 8 mm and do not have a weapon with which to fire it, nor would I even if I did.
I would love to at least double my current numbers, just need the $$$ to do so.
The Big Brown Truck of Happiness made multiple deliveries this week, letting me meet my Target Load for three of my firearms .
OOPS!
I ordered another milsurp (darn that C&R license) that is chambered for a cartridge I don't have:banghead: ! Hi ho, hi ho................................
It's subjective, everyone has a different level of preparedness. Each of my firearms has at least 3 full magazines. In the gun itself, is full capacity plus 1. Magazine capacities range from 7 to 13 rounds. So just there, I probably have about 100 rounds. Then just one ammo container with extra rounds. Right now, there's about 200 .45 cartridges and maybe 120 .40 cartridges. So I guess I'm somewhere near the 500 mark at the moment.
