I am thinking about buying a nice broomhandle mauser. I am going to shoot it so I want a nice one but I am not a collector. I have shot a chinese version and after it went full auto on me I took it back. I have limited experience here.

I figured out the following. I don't want a bolo version and I do not like the flatsides. I have no problem with a re-finished version and would reload 30 mauser if I had to. I really prefer a 9mm though.

Finally I understand that I MUST change out the bolt locking block to avoid catching a bolt in my nose if it shears.

So how should I pick one out? Around town here I probably have 2 dozen nice ones to chose from ranging from factory original all matching serial numbers down to re-finished parts guns.

Any advice would be welcome!
