I saw a blurb online the other day that Midway had MecGar sig p226 mags in stock, limit 2 per customer. So I jumped online and ordered up a couple of magazines and some other odds-n-ends. Some of the items are backordered (dies). On checkout, there was a note that said due to extreme volume etc the order would likely ship by the 18th or so and I should relieve it by the 20th.

By the end of the same day I got an email that said the order was ready to ship (less the backordered items of course)

The next morning I get an email that the items had shipped and a tracking number.

Today the tracking number says out for delivery. Yea!

Props to Midway and Larry!

Yep. Even during the current panic I've been getting quick turn around on my Midway orders with excellent customer service. They're definitely one of the good ones.

Midway was the first place I did business with. Their website is what makes them, no other vendors can match the ease of ordering or looking for products that Midway has.

But, as good as the website is I started comparing other vendors. Midway is far from the cheapest in prices. I've also noticed they don't have the stock some of the other vendors do. It's all a trade-off.

I'm not a big fan of their current interface on line, but once the orders are in the turnaround is very fast. And they let you pick your shipping mode, which is invaluable for Alaska.

Ya, Midway is a little high on some things, but I still keep going back to them for some reason, I do like thier website.
I have some things on backorder and they keep pushing the date farther back, now it's July--and Natchez has it in stock--go figure. I may just cancel the order if I can do that.

Their website is maybe the most archaic thing I've seen in the last ten years. I can't believe they can't hire a competent webmaster.

Really?
I've ordered hundreds and hundreds of $$$ worth of stuff there, and have never had a single problem.
Navigation seems pretty cut and dried to me.

I love Midway!

I'm still waiting to be enlightened on who these cheaper merchants are. Sometimes I can find an odd item or two for a lower price, but very rarely the whole order. I usually open two or three windows, depending on what I'm ordering. Brownell's, Cabela's, Amazon Prime, etc. I complete the same order for the same products and head to the checkout screen on all of them. The one with the most stuff in stock and the best price gets their button pushed. Nine times out of ten it's Midway.

I did once get a email from Brownell's asking why I had failed to complete an order, and I told them. They wanted $25 for shipping on the same order for which Midway wanted $9.

Midway sent a 'status of business" letter last month
the gist of it: most items spent less than 12 hours, there were some pics that circulated, where they were showed literally packing stuff as it came of the truck and loading it on the out bound truck.

Another "Praise Midway!" Thread......
GOOD!!! He deserves a thousand of these threads!!!! They are a great company. Excellent customer service. No they aren't perfect, but they are about as close as one can get nowadays. I hope when Larry retires, whoever takes over the company runs it like he does.

Placed a few orders recently, my most recent order of 10,000 small pistol primers was ordered around 5PM this Monday and shipped within 24 hours. Amazing service all things considered.

Props to Midway and Larry!
Yes, Midway has been a stand up buisness all through the current panic. While they suffer the same out of stock and back order problems as other retailers, they continue to sell at non-panic prices when they do get things in. I've picked up a number of Glock magazines for $25 each, that are selling for $40-50 from other retailers.

Midway has a customer for life in me after this. :)

I have been using Midway since the '90's and couldn't even begin to guess at how many thousand of dollars I have spent there. They are still where I go first for any gun related needs. I have made dozens of orders and have never had a single issue with any of them.

Ditto on Cosmoline's comment on shipping to Alaska. Very few companies get it. Midway does. USPS Priority Mail is the only viable option for rural Alaska residents. UPS Ground doesn't make it. Contents of a medium flat box cost about $11 to mail, while UPS will need around $70 to do the same thing. Wish we could get primers, powder and ammo as easily as the lower states, we just have that pesky foreign country between us getting in the way.

I am very impressed with Midway. They've earned my repeat, repeat business.

  • Decent prices, holding pretty steady, considering all this madness
  • They give great post-order communications via email and website
  • Their website is quite nice, makes managing orders nice and easy
  • Multiple shipping options
  • Reasonable return policy

Their website is much better than Palmetto State Armory. I like it better than Brownell's as well.

The best site I have seen for a web retailer is newegg.com

I used to love Midway, right up until they decided that their interpretation of NJ Law required a DL to purchase ammunition.

Other online retailers do not require it, and in my reading the law is written just for in person purchases in state.

Based on their over-zealous policy I have taken all my business elsewhere.

Too bad you blamed Midway instead of Bloomburg and his minions...

That's like blaming Barrett for not fixing LAPDs .50, or Magpul for moving out of Colorado. When your "representatives" meet at night to pass laws that threaten retailers with big fines and are so poorly written as to be unclear what behavior is illegal and when - some retailers take that seriously.

Midway isn't the problem - your government is. And that's coming from a California native and resident!

I buy a lot from Midway. I've never had any issue and if I did ever have an issue I am quite confident they would make it right.

I went to Midway looking for a 44 cast mold. they were out of just about everything, but had two of the 44. I ordered one, leaving one more for someone else. They also had the corresponding sizing die in stock. Ordered as well.
They arrived within a week.

Today I looked for a 38 mold. Sold out, so I back ordered.
I also looked for the sizing die, 2 in stock. ordered one.

Hey, things are tight, but patience will pay off.

+1 on the interface. I think their old site was more user friendly. Same with Brownell's. At least with Brownell's you can click a link to change back to the old format.

I love Midway the business -- But lately I have sending alot of money to Midsouth Shooting Supply.

-- Prices are generally a little better than midway
-- They are allowing backordering for some stuff that I need, I don't mind waiting I just do not want to have to searching
-- Their shipping was better, however Midway did fix one of my grips with their shipping policy

However I always check midway and still order every once in a while due to how the conduct business.

You managed to get a lot wrong.

Bloomberg is NY. I'm in NJ.

And read my comment again.

I am not blaming midway for stupid nj laws.

I am blaming them for incorrect interpretation of nj law perhaps worse, hiding behind lawyers.

There's a difference.
