idea for a new military rifle concept

You havent fired anything but you want to wildcat a new battle rifle , in the UK?? Well good luck with that :) Also, as nentioned earlier 10mm and 45acp arent designed for the pressures you are after. 460 rowland might be, slightly longer and reinforced 45acp version starline makes . Also as mentioned cartridges based on cutting down 308 or similar to 45acp case head.

And my case capacity would exeed that....also its a slim bullet so that adds capacity.
Not to mention the bullet (projectile) may be slim, but capacity is determined by the case diameter, which is not. Before you go designing guns for any military, start with the basics as I outlined earlier, and while you're at it, learn correct nomenclature. It is critical in this field.
At this point you are wasting mental capacity at something you know just enough book knowledge of, but no actual experience at, to be dangerous. Either put in the time learning the whole of the science behind it, (Physics, ballistics, metallurgy, weapons design history, (to avoid all the pitfalls you keep roaring into blindly) propellant properties, proper nomenclature, etc. or quit while you are ahead. There are more than enough 'idea boys' in the firearms industry, what is needed are people who can envision something and see it through every stage of development, such as John M. Browning or John C. Garand.

And when you get there, don't attach the scope directly to the barrel.

A 30 cal bolt action pistol is a heck of an excursion hunting weapon.
Was enough of a handful to use on a bench at a range. Had a 18" mountain rifle in .308 for actual field use.

Which is why I even tried the Rem Accelerators--sort of the approach OP was thinking of--a 50gr FMJ .223 in a sabot in a .308 case. Was as ugly as 150gr .308 to shoot (going from around 2600fps to 3200fps probably accounted for that).

What can you equip a squad with which would be effective in ridding the theater of both swarms of small automated drones as well as random 600 lb. forest roaming unmanned killer robots?
Or is the human foot soldier going to be obsolete?

The military pistol is functionally a left-over from olden days when sergeants and officers had to force rebellious or cowardly soldiers to stay in line and face the enemy.
These weapons were only incidentally supposed to be used against an actual enemy.
I'm not sure what function that they serve on a modern battlefield... .
I'm thinking of the scene in Saving Private Ryan when Tom Sizemore pulls his .45 on his insubordinate BAR gunner and then at the end when he fires it empty and throws it at his enemy, lol.

I dont see the M4 being replaced for a long, long time.

Yes its difficult bcause im in the uk so havent fired anything.
We hold these thruths to be self evident.
(No offense intended.)

The 10mm auto has about 1.2k-1.3k ft lbs from that barrel length
(or even a 16 'barrel)
Because it has a 200 grain bullet, and the recoil is, I guess, pronounced, for some smaller humans.

And my case capacity would exeed that....also its a slim bullet so that adds capacity.

:)

Clearly the only way to find out would be to test it. necking down a 45 or 10mm and going from there.

Now we’re getting somewhere.

It is clear you need to get out more.
Again, no offense intended, but you are missing so much, you don’t know that what you aren’t getting is foundational.

Are you still allow to own reloading products in England? Try necking down a 10mm to 22 caliber.

This exercise is about more than sizing brass...

He should still be able to reload in the UK, they still have a decent shotgun and rifle scene, not sure about handguns though.I hope he has not been too discouraged, this is probably a young man tired of being stuck inside in the UK's lockdowns. They are hitting them pretty hard over there.

Has our military ever fully evaluated and tested the swiss arms sg 550? I don't mean the miserable american knock off. ( I had 3 556r dont get me started.) I mean the real 550. The reason I ask is that thing seems like a hell of a rifle.
I'd be interested in two things first:
1. Sustained full auto like they experienced at Wanat Afg. How long can they hold out.
2. 100 rifle v. 100 rifle sample new in the box take them out and load from multiple mags. How many hang ups on loading, and also ftf/fte in the first 1000 rounds for all 100 rifles. Basically testing mag and rifle compatibility with typical build quality.

I don't like the stock and grip on the 550, easily remedied though.
